My dog is acting strangely- she usually eats dried food but has always been a bit picky. Recently she has not really beeen eating it- i usually put a bit of meat in with it to get her to eat. Then she wolfs it down! But for the last few weeks every time she gets meat she poo's on the floor and sorry to be graphic but it is slimey and full of mucus stuff. Also this week she is malting loads (althouh it is hot and it could be that to)
I am really worried but scared of a huge vet bill which i cannot afford- we are financially going through a really hard time!
Any advice??

sorry when i say meat i mean tinned dog food. I intend to take her to the vet- she has not lost any weight or anything. Yesterday i gave her a different kind of wet food- packet rather than tinned and she did not go on the floor- i wonder if she was allergic to the tinns i previously bought??

The slimy mucus is caused by the tinned dog meat because she is not used to it.Dogs also get that if they are on a high protein diet. She is shedding her coat because it is that time of year to do so.Mine are too.I think she is fed up with her dry dog food & the fact that she is quite happy to eat it with meat in proves this.
Try soaking her food in hot water until it is soft & add a tiny amount of tinned meat or gravy & mix it up well. She hasn't lost any weight so it proves she isn't starving to death. You are not entitled to go to the PDSA unless you receive income support, housing benefit, etc.I would phone & ask & tell them you are on a low income.Unless you can prove you have any benefits I don't think there is much chance.Anyway I think your dog is just fine & just needs temping a little.

Sounds like you are saying she has been avoiding eating and you have to add some meat to get her to eat and then she has a very bad b.m. on your floor.
Your dog could have hookworms, but it could be a dog disease or something else causing her lack of appetite and increased hair loss. No Vet on here or over the phone can tell you what is wrong or how to treat it so please take the dog to a Vet and don't try suggested remedies for what has not been diagnosed upon exam.
Call your city SPCA or Animal Control and see if there are references to low cost clinics that can help you, or that will not charge an exorbitant amount.
If that doesn't work, try calling around to Vets and telling them your dog is sick, you are not sure why and describe what you told us and that you are in a financially tight situation and would like to know if they could take payments after the intitial Vet exam fee, for the treatment.
Hope you can get her the care she needs and sorry you are in financial dire straits.

Sounds like she probly has a virus or an infection somewhere in her digestive system. I would take her to a vet, and although you say you cant afford the bill, the vet will not make you pay for it all at once you can pay as much as you can weekly or monthly.

y dont you try beef broth instead of meat? you might save on your grocery bill too not buying steak for the dog. or chicken broth. it sounds very spoiled and will eat if it gets hungry enough. i spoil my animals but not that much. they eat what i buy them. see if the poo is still slimey after you quit feed it meat. feed it some veggies then. if you still need to take it to a vet- you might look for a lowcost clinic in your area-maybe call a rescue organization and ask if they know of one.

You need to take your dog to the vet! No one can possibly diagnose what's wrong with your dog over the internet. You do not say what meat you are feeding her but some dogs are allergic to beef.
