It may be psychological, but she may have damaged her gums somehow.
Early peridontal disease can be hard to detect. She could have an abscess just starting or a chipped tooth.
Try to get her to pick up other toys (a kong filled with peanut butter or other treats would be a good test). If she still won't grasp a large item, a trip to the vet may be in order.
Also, have there been any fireworks recently? Maybe she tried to play ball and fireworks went off. Moving and vacations can be very stressful to dogs.
If her gums and teeth are fine, she may just need some time to adjust. Always give love!

It does not hurt him to keep him in the crate for a few hours while you do other things. Just do not use it for a punishment. Play with him and put him for his nap. Just like a kid. Then when the kids come home they can do the same through dinner. If dad wants to play do it after dinner for a while and then put him to bed at night. Save the treats for rest time. only and then he will get the idea he gets good stuff when he is quiet.. as well as attention when he is playing. That way he will be happy either way. You need to take into account his breed too. Some breeds need to work hi energy jobs all the time If he is a samoyed or husky try to find a way to get him high energy exercise. Bikeing 2 miles etc., St bernard - wagon pulling (doing yard work) things like that. Use your imagination see - what the kids can come up with too, and ask your vet sometimes he can give you some good ideas.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUObK
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

If you've just moved, and just back from your first vacay away from the dog, she's probably a little confused and depressed. Every time I've moved it's taken my dog a few weeks to really be herself again. Give her some time to adjust to your new home. Keep offering to throw the ball for her but don't force her to play if she doesn't want to. I bet she'll come around in a couple of weeks.

i had a dog who loved playing fetch with his first owner (my cousin) but my cousin couldnt look after him anymore so gave him to a mate this mate tormented the dog with his ball and sticks and all of his toys really so when we got him he wouldnt play fetch or chew his toys because he was scared of them everytime i threw the ball he ran away thought i was going to hit him with it. it took me over a year to get him used to them again.. im not saying this is what happened just what happened to my dog seems the same with yours i would speak to the people who were caring for it while you were away

Most dogs act like this when they are in a new area (as you have said you just moved). Give her more time to adjust. Her brother may have adjusted to your new home quicker than her.

Ask the people that were watching her.. maybe there was some sort of horrible ball incident that they neglected to tell you about.. Maybe she got out of the habit of playing ball, maybe they were doing something else with her that she liked better??
