what else can i do???
there is no ac in the room they're in and i feel so bad they are overheating. what else can i do?!?!
oh yeah and i can't put them in ice water because their fur can't get too wet.

i have an ac in my upstairs rooms but the ac isn't on now i just put it on at night. even then i'm afraid it'll be too cold for them. also my mom never wants them upstairs since they make so much noise but i'll bring them up since they can't tolerate the heat. thanks for everyones help i'll definitly take all your answers into account.

Get a small table top fan, set on low. Put a bowl of ice behind it, and this will help cool the air. You can freeze a wet hand towel and give them that to lie on as well. They don't tolerate heat well.

are they in a wire cage? you could put a fan in the room. or move them to a room w/ ac?? since sounds like you do have ac in another room. i liked the previous idea about the frozen washcloth, just make sure they dont get stuck to it. what about one of those frozen pouches like you put i lunch boxes? get a couple of those and you can rotate them as they become melted

You can get marble slabs for chinchillas who really can't stand heat in most pet supermarkets. You put them in the fridge to cool them and then put them in the cage. If you have two you could keep rotating them.

i put old water bottles/soda bottles (avent baby bottles) in the freezer obviously with water in them. then i cover them with an old sock so the bedding doesn't get all wet. switch them out every few hours.
this is what i do for my girls (rats) and it seems to work. i also have a fan in the room their in.
hope this works for you, err your degu

put a waterbottle in the freezer and then when it's frozen put it in their cage. That way it won't melt all over them.
Also, could you move their cage to another room?

Wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer flat. Then let them lay on it if they want.
