I took my dog to petsmart. They welcome dogs right in the store. You can try the collar on before you buy it. You should be able to get at least two fingers under the collar for a proper fit. Look for a nice rolled leather one. It keeps their fur smooth.

Take it to your local pet store and have one of the salespeople fit it for a collar. If you can't take him or there are no pet stores near you, try to find a website that sells collars based on their weight. Or, you can measure or have your cousin measure the dog's neck and find a collar for it that way. Hope this helps!!!

If you can't take the dog with you then the best is measure the nec and add about 2 inches.
Most places if you don't remove the tag and keep the reciept will allow you to rerturn for a different size

That is a thoughtful gift!!
Scroll down this page to see a list of average breed collar sizes. If you think the dog is bigger than average, add 2 inches to the list size.

You should be able to pass two fingres under the collar when it is on the dog. Thats a good fit.

Measure the dog's neck and add two inches. Don't pull the tape measure overly tight. If you go to a pet store, you can take the dog with you.

medium probably. my dog is 47 pounds and the nylon collar she wears is a medium. so he will probably wear a medium, but if youre getting it from petsmart, petco etc take him with you and try them on him.
