I've been with a compnay for a couple of years now and am SERIOUSLY under paid, however I love the company and the people and am the best guy there. A friend of mine has an uncle that has offered me a job making over twice the money plus insurrance and what not for almost the same kind of work.

Do I quit the job I love with great people for double the money?

Depends, suggest you make a ckecklist. On the left side write the pros to changing, on the right the cons.

See which side wins.

Left side

More pay
insurance
same type of work
add your +++ here

Right side

Leaving your friends
add your - - - - here

Good Luck

Since I have stuck it out at a few lower paying job and got nothing in return I kick myself. First I would tell them that you have a job offer and it pays twice as much. You can ask them straight up if they could match it. Wait for their reply...which is ussually no. Then ask them if they can come close. ( If you really want to stay there) But tell them that you want to move up and would like to be trained to do so. ( get it in writing) If they can not then you are waisting your time. I started to look for another job. I found a few that were awful but I learned so much in management ect. I can go into many fields of work now. Its not easy but when you get a check for twice as much and it makes life easier you become a happier person with less stress ( money wise) So the other thing to think about is the time it takes to get to the new job. Will it take a big bite out of your wallet in gas? Ware and tare on the car too. If everything says go to the other job then go. If you give a notice to the place you are at and you decide you dont like working the other job then go back. Tell the one you are leaving that if it doesnt work out you would like to come back. All in all moving up and becoming better and better at what you do and getting paid for it is the key to a good job. All those people you work with may quit then your stuck with the low paying job that you wanted to stick around for because of them. Hope this helps.

Wow, I think that is really your call. Do you live comfortably right now? Are you able to pay your bills on time and can you afford things you really want? What I'm getting at is if you love your job and the people and the environment, then you should def. stay there. It is very rare to come across a job you actually like. But if the money is important to you, and you need it, then maybe the other job is right for you.
Its up to you in the end. Whats more important? The money?

Ah, Money - it's the root of all evil and seed to happiness.

I really believe you need to be happy in your job and you sound that way - making more $ may not make you as happy in the long run - because you need to enjoy what you do -
as it's so much of our time.

So do you like the uncle ?
Do you think the job is good - go meet the people -
how about the hours ?
Commute etc.. if you think they all seem good, change is good but it's hard to say - the old saying you never know unless you go applies - but stick with your gut.

hmm. im must wondering since being there for a couple of yrs, are you eligible for a increase in pay or have you maxed out your pay scale?perhaps you have other talents to offer the company you work for.....( your current job).& as far as the job offer from your friends uncle,i'd really think about it and hold on to that thought if ur not getting anywhere at ur current position.

Yes, Quit the job, Working is about making money not being friends with your co-workers.If these people are more than co-workers, truely friends you'll stay in contact with them, wether you work with them or not! GO make that MONEY!

Well, probably so, as long as the friend's uncle's business looks stable enough that it'll be there for awhile.
