Our prayers will be answered when there is true peace in Israel. This is a good start. We can only wait to see what happens next.

I don't know what your prayers are.
I'll assume that unlike many Zionists on YA you aren't praying for the destruction of Palestinians and their elimination from their homeland. If you were, the answer would be no, because that happened 60 years ago, its not a beginning and apparently not an end.
If you are praying for the kind of peace in which the Palestinians have been beaten into submission and some are ready to agree to the political wishes of the Israeli government, the answer may be yes, you might be seeing a good beginning. BTW this is the kind of peace slave-masters used to get by starving, beating and chaining up their slaves - note that "overseers," slaves with special privileges, were employed even then. But while exhausted by the starvation (some 42% of children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition) and seige imposed by Israel, I don't think they've all been beaten into submission.
If you are praying for peace thats based on genuine justice and equality, then no. Its obvious from the quote that what Olmert wants is for the Palestinians to adopt a specific political position, i.e., that the so-called Palestinian state will be not include East Jerusalem or any Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank settlements, Israel's confiscation of land by war will stand, nor will any refugees be allowed to return to their homes in what is now Israel or likely any acknowlegement of the atrocities employed by Zionists/Israelis to get them to leave. That's what Olmert means by conditions for the start of substantial dialogue.
I would like to know what exactly you are praying for.

I would say no. The current government created by Abbas is technically illegal as the President has the power to disolve a government but not create a new one. As of right now, the Palestinian government is not democratically elected, and until it is I won't trust the staying power of any deal signed. That being said, bolstering Abbas's position will (hopefully) lead to increased popularity of moderation and a trend away from extremism. Hopefully we'll see results next election with a Hamas defeat and a general shift towards moderation.

If you're an Israeli citizen (as I believe you to be) you are to be commended for your wish to be at peace; I believe it indicates that you believe the Palestinians should have their own nation.
I'm an American who believes in the "right" of Israel to exist, but not at the expense of the people whose land it once was. The true keys to peace are the creation of a VIABLE Palestinian state, and the dismantlement of all settlements in the West Bank. To allow those settlements to remain would be a false peace; Israel would remain the Colonizer, and as a U.S citizen of Native American ancestry, I am well aware of the evils of Colonialism. It canNOT be allowed to exist.

No. The U.S. and Olmert only support Abbas because he has no base of support; it's meaningless.

I am a Zionist. I don't want the destruction of Palesinians. No Zionist wants the destruction of Palestinians. Palestinians are destructing themselves. They don't value their own lives, and much less they value Jewish lives.
If they simply put their weapons down and declare peace, there will be peace.
It is only up to the Arab side of this conflict to make peace.

These moves are nothing serious and no one trust the others
The true people who can work for peace in Israel can't speak the rest are preparing for something else.
