They're all just names. Yahweh is a mistaken attempt at transliterating (sounding out) the deity's hebrew name as written in the Torah, but it's inaccurate even by linquistic standards. The name Allah was used by the Jews as well as the Moslems. The medieval (Spanish) Jewish authority Maimonedies (Rambam) used that name when writing his commentaries.
The fundamental question is whether you believe in only one God.... if so, the name is not the important issue.
If you believe in more than one, then you get into the arena of whose God is bigger than whose... which leads to nonsense.

Yahweh, the God of the Bible, is very different from Allah.
Allah is the moon god of the arab people. (note crescent moon in muslim designs) The moon god had three daughters, and Mohammed discussed that in the Quran before he decided to renounce what he had said and called the verses "Satanic" verses. Allah loves the death of infidels, but Yahweh "takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked" and "is not willing that any should perish". How could these two be the same? They are not at all. Mohammed thought he was posessed by the devil until his wife convinced him that he was a "prophet". I think he was right the first time.

Because they all came from the same book and story of Abraham. Some words in Hebrew and Arabic are almost the same" In Arabic, a pilgrimage is a "haj" and in Hebrew it's a "hag".
The Koran, the newest book, describes Christians and Jews as "People of the book".
The Jews think "Moshiac" has not come yet.
The Christians think Jesus WAS "Moshiac" and that he's coming back...
The Muslims think Mohammed(an historic figure) was Allah's prophet and that he went to heaven and met Jesus and Moses.
It's a family feud; sibling rivalry...God is God.

Slavery, woman's rights, and Interracial marriage have been all in opposition via maximum human beings. maximum human beings fought against liberating slaves, women human beings balloting, and interracial marriages, in basic terms to be corrected via the minority. that's what's happening now with gay rights! David I: you're very much incorrect in case you think u.s. became typical on Christian morals or via Christians. there have been many religons in contact all of that have been desperate could have no effect on the government (Seperation of Church and State) and there have been even Atheists in the gang of our founding fathers. u.s. became based on the "Taxation without Repersentation" argument. As constantly it became approximately money and private rights, no longer faith.

One God of Abraham. Allah just means "the God" in Arabic as does capital G God in English. The Tetragrammaton(Yod He Vah He) is the OT revealed name for the God of Abraham or God or Allah.

Because it's in one's nature to believe in one God, that's why :) and because people call Him differently, because of the language, or culture, it doesn't mean we all don;t believe in the same God.

We don't. The more I delve into the various names...the more I see that they aren't necessarily the same. But on the other hand...some are.

I don't believe they are. Yahweh, or YHVH is God, but Allah is something else.
