I believe most of people follow or practice their religions as it most comfortable for them.

They use their brains to see if the practice or belief serves their purpose; that purpose may need for them to interpret the holy book one way or another, may lead them to take somethings literally or want to do something that is against the scripture, the practice or any human common sense just because they think it is what God would want.

People want God to follow them, more than they let God guide them.

Any blind practice is a risk for anyone near the practitioner. God is an eyeopener for compassion, mercy and understanding, religion is a blindfold for hate, intolerance and power.

God be with you.

Yes, you are correct.
And most secularists follow their beliefs without question as well. They don't even understand the assumptions they have made, and they have no concept of epistemology, logic, ethics, or metaphysics.
In fact, most humans live thier entire lives without thinking beyond whatever they hear on TV or decide for themselves for the sake of convenience.
What is your holy book....whatever makes Oprah's book club? We all develop our beliefs from something.
In any case, you are correct about people living blindly, but the fact is that every person has a "religion" in the sense that they have a set of beliefs by which they live their lives. If you think you DON'T have a religion, you are even more blind than those you accuse.....

Blind faith can actually be an admirable thing, to be able to believe like that is something to be desired. Jesus said to doubting Thomas, 'you believe because you have seen Me, blessed are those who have not seen and yet still believe'.

This is not something which most Christians are capable of, most Christians (like Thomas) have had periods of doubt and scepticism. This has caused them to subject Christianity to intense scrutiny and compare it to the beliefs of other religions and the claims of atheists. But because the Christian religion is one which (when examined) can be seen to be based on impeccable logic and reason, those who sincerely use these to test it, realise it is the only true religion. So Christianity has both types of people, those who have an unshakable blind faith and those who KNOW it is the truth through using reason and logic. In my experience the latter are in the majority.
Having said that, it then becomes clear that all other religions and beliefs (including atheism) do not stand the same test of reason and logic, so by the nature of their own illogicality, blind faith becomes an essential requisite for their followers. In this case it is not a desirable thing because their illogicality is so obvious and contrary to common sense, that to wilfully remain blind to such is just plain foolishness.

I think the things written in their holy books are very vague. And I don't feel that "most" follow or believe their faith blindly. Most rationalize how to interpret what's written in their holy books, so that it fits with their interpretation/understanding of how things are and what sounds logically correct to them.
Some can have a pretty skewed outlook though, or can easily be lead to believe strong opinions of spiritual leaders or follow the convictions of many (a large group)

No, I question most things that I am taught to believe. I don't follow anything blindly, I ask questions and find answers. Some of it does come to "faith" which you would probably call "following blindly", but I look at everything and make rational decisions.

The vast majority of people appear to go blindly into eternity.

Since it is impossible to find God by just using your brains it would be a pretty stupid thing to try to comprehend Him with a tiny, finite mind.

Unless He reveal Himself you are helpless.

That humiliation is something man cannot abide.

Yet God is close to the humble.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Are you too clever for this?

Yes, they do. I know b/c I used to follow blindly & everyone that I know that is still religious follows blindly.

I used to have alot of questions when I went to Sunday school & each answer basically told me I was blaspheming & that I should just "have faith". Questioning religion was like cursing in church..LOL

I believe in God. In doing so, I take His word for what it is, His word. If He tells me that all the instructions for living and salvation are in it, I believe Him. It is as simple as that. My belief has nothing to do with not using my brains. What I have learned in my brain through school etc. has supported my belief in God.

I do not know who the brian is that you suggest that I use.
Assuming that you mean brains, how come that some of the world's greatest intellectual;s have been Christians or theists.
(Kepler, Jung, etc)

The unexamined life is a live not worth living. So yes, it is required of each person to examine themselves, their beliefs and see that they are true to them, whatever they may be.

Otherwise, you could be living a lie and never know it.
