Technically everybody could get caught. If they really wanted to, the regulators could catch and sue everybody who did that. Now what would happen if they did? There was a case a few years ago where somebody was sued by the music industry for illegally downloading music. They challenged the case, and won, because by checking who is downloading the songs, the regulators are violating your right to privacy. Because of this case, they no longer do this to people for fear that they will be counter sued for it. Instead, they go after the developers of the P2P system (aka limewire, warez, etc), and pressure them into shutting down. So you are at virtually no risk when you download songs from a p2p network... the developers of the program are at risk.

The government is keeping a close eye on Limewire and the things that people download. They can also see the I.P. Addresses of those fairly easily. It depends on if you will be caught or not depending on your security.

Honestly, I think its a percentage of a percentage... between 0 and 1%...
There are way too many people downloading illegally nowadays that music industries find it to have a better impact to scare people rather than catch them.
The main way I think people get caught is by putting them on CD's and floggin them at car boot sales. Also, having evidence of downloading music when you take your PC/Laptop/Misc.. into a store to get it repaired is also one of the more common reasons.
I have never actually seen anyone caught for downloading music of limewire, although i have seen someone caught for downloading other illegal files as they had them on their computer when it got checked.
Hope this Helps =D

I think the people offering the illegal downloads get caught more often than the ones doing the downloading.

it all depends on how long u stay on limewire and what kind of things u download, i have three computers with lime pro on them a i run the constantly cuz my stepdad is a dj so he needs alot of music, but if ur scared just remove ur internet cable when ur done to ensure no won can track what ur done. i would say none so u got nothing to worry about if u are worried.

probably none ... theyre looking more for suppliers and servers of pirated material than the 12 year old downloading a song ... not that it cant happen ... but i would say 1 in 10000 myt get nailed and then usually only get a letter stating to cease and delete the material ..

Out of every 30,000 or so, about 1 will have legal problems.
Also from what I understand, they've only prosecuted people who upload, but if no one uploads, the system doesn't work.

People who post illegal material get caught more than those who are downloading. your ip is noted and the location is traced and thats how people are caught.

Ok for people who tell u that you'll get caught they don't know anything. You can download as many songs as you like as long as you don't share them (aka take them out of your shared folder) the people who get caught are the ones who are sharing like a million songs and other crap
