First of all, congrats on your newest addition to the family! Secondly, how old is your pup? Puppy's need shots & deworming at 6,9,12, & 16 weeks of age. Did the breeder give your pup any vaccinations yet? After the 2nd set of vax the pup can be taken out in public, but I would suggest waiting until the last set. At the vet clinic where I work I've seen many puppy's come in w/parvo and they hadn't yet finished all of their innoculations. When your pup is 16 weeks old, he/she will not only get a distemper/parvo vaccination but also a rabies vaccination. After that set of shots, your pup will be good for one year. You can also buy a heartworm preventative (I recommend Interceptor) when your pup is about 4-5 months of age. When the time comes to get your pup's vaccinations, please take him/her to the vet. Please don't buy the vaccines from a co-op or feed store because they don't sell high enough doses to do any good at preventing the diseases. Good luck and have fun with your new pup!

They can go out as long as they're up to date on their shots. You should take your new puppy to the vet and get prescription for heartworm preventative so you have it when he's 6 months old. You also should buy some Frontline for when he's old enough. Talk to your vet about the shots and ask for any special advice on bull mastiffs. Most breeds have something about them that needs special care, such as face wrinkles that have to be cleaned out to prevent infection. The vet will give him the shots if he needs them and tell you when the next ones are due.

A lot of this depends on the vet and the type of vaccine they use.
On general a pup can start shots at 6 - 8 weeks and given every 3-4 weeks until 4 months and then the rabies and if you are getting her fixed make the appointment.
She can go out in your yard but not out much in public until her 3rd shot. But the best is ask your vet some will differ on how they feel especially since she will be such a large pup.

you can go to 1800petmeds.com or drsfosterandsmith.com and on one of those sites there is a schedule of shots for animals. i know once they complete their first full cycle they can go out. but you definitely want to get them vaccinated so they dont pick up something like parvo.
