The reason I ask this is because I am gay, and it is something I did not ask to be. Even though I am, I believe, pray and am close to god, yet, on half the answers people say that God said it is wrong and blasphemous. If I had a boyfriend, I wouldnt go with someone behind his back.
The gayquestion is only an example, but people do it on other questions too. I would just like to know what right have they to use God in a reference as saying that it is wrong, or misunderstand words of the bible and say it is written as wrong.

DisneyFreaks answer is exactly what I'm talking about. He's not alone assuming what is right and wrong. I would think people like him are frowned upon.

Me and my mother live in a do what YOU think is right world. Basically we do all we can to help people. We don't say mean things that would hurt people. We try to better society. Try to spread equalism. This is my religion. Wether I believe in God or not is not a question to be concerned with at the moment. I think that truly people do lots of damage to other people with their religion. They REALLY do! Everybody is so obsessed with DOING THE RIGHT THING. The truth is though there are so many of my christian religious acquantances that frown upon be because I don't follow their religion, that make fun of people, have hurt people, have a 100% vanity effect in their system, are greedy oh but yet, they frown upon you when you tell them about your attendance at church. This is what i think: I don't care what religion you're from if i criticize you it will be because you use someone's name to shelter yourself with (God). In reality I have seen that these people I know aren't good people. I've seen people without a religion do so much more good than they ever will in their lifetime pretending to be a pure innocent child from God. Get real. It doesn't matter what you are. All you have to do in life is do the righ thing because it will always reciprocate back to you. Don't go by what other people may judge you as. You hurt noone. I believe that some gays are born gay and others choose to be gay. If god thought it were wrong to be gay, then he wouldn't have made you this way right? I'm saying this because that's what they think right? That god made you jus the way he wanted you? Well hello genetics and tests can prove how you're homones can be of a woman trapped in a man's body. Just always do good things. Don't judge people too soon, make people happy, spread love and equality and everything will be fine. And the next time somone tells you that you are going to hell because you are gay, tell them thank you for that assesment but i don't need and and go on your merry way. If there is a heaven, God will not not let you in simply because you are gay. If he is alll knowing, and loves us so much he must know how we feel and he must understand that we have to do what we have to do. Don't be scared its not blasphemy if God is worthy of looking up to then he will accept and love you the way you are. Otherwise why would you want to be under someone's control who doesn't understand you? Best of Luck to ya. : )

I'm confused by your question. You clearly believe in the concepts that somethings are right and some are wrong because you quote "If I had a boyfriend, I wouldn't go with someone behind his back."
And if you pray and are close to God when why does it surprise you people take their understanding of God and use it to say what is right or wrong?
You have to accept that not all people will believe in the same things you do. And if you are happy that being gay is not wrong then why do you let yourself be upset by people who hold other views.
That said, sometimes it does upset me when people refer to God as a fairytale (or many less polite things) but they are as entitled to their beliefs as I am to mine. And if you truly believe in something such name calling cannot shake you.

OK, I'm not religious and do not believe in the bible, however i do believe there is 'something' watching over us and i do sometimes pray, but not to god. it angers me when people preach from the bible and try to force it onto others, being gay is what you are and there is nothing wrong it, you are a human being the same as everyone, I'm going to stop now because once i get started on this subject there's no stopping me!!!

I used to be like all the other bigots and seriously thought gay was something you choose, but that was before I went to a friends house one day and met his gay four year old brother. Since that day Ive decided being gay is something your born with and not something you choose, and therefore God loves you the way you are because He made you like that. I wouldnt stress what other people say, they havent been exposed to something like that before. Besides, chances are these people live in do-or-die hardcore Christian middle America and would never think to question the smallest detail in the Bible.

I wish I could remember some verses so that you could reference...but I'll just answer in saying...if you feel the way that you are living your life(gay or not) is in accordance to God's word and laws....then roll with it. None of us can judge you...God will have the final say so anyways...but read the Bible for yourself...dont skip around...start from the beginning.....within it you should find clarity. Mortals tend to feed into each others own beliefs, preference, interpretations and science ....with no valid reference to natural balance. No one can die for you...no one can live for you....and only God can judge you...if by what you saying, that you are close to God...then you already know this...
So some of the real questions you should ask yourself is ...what does it mean to be gay....since you claim not to have asked for it....so did God make you gay?...why not make everyone gay...why a few here and a few there? ....why didn't he make me gay? I mean...I'm happy, but I'm not gay.

When Field Marshal Sir Bernard Law Montgomery, commander of the British Eighth Army, and General George S. Patton, Jr., commander of the United States Third Army, collaborated in North Africa and later in Sicily and then still later in the European Theatre of operations after D-Day, June 6, 1944, there was definitely a clash of two very strong egos.
One humorous example of Montgomery's arrogance, among many, was when he had the temerity to quote God Himself. Montgomery generously allowed as follows:
"As God once said, and I think rightly, . . .".

The only direct references to homosexuality I can remember in the Bible are in the Old Testament and therefore very ancient. The wandering Jewish tribes of those days must have had very different needs and criteria from those appropriate for this day and age pertaining to this particular issue.

Every sinner that is close to God should feel convicted about what they are doing wrong... people are not God. God is God. He knows your innermost being...the one we try to hide or shield from others.
If you pray and are very close to God, have asked Jesus into your heart, are LIVING for Him as the Bible says you are supposed to, and have His Holy Spirit living within you... then YOU should truly be able to discern what is right and what is wrong...
God's conviction is something fierce... He does not push you as some people would, but He does guide you... You would know if you were hearing from Him or not... but your heart has to be open to Him, and not closed off in any way.
Hope this helps

Being a homosexual is not a sin. homosexual practises are. Sex is only permitted in the context of marriage therefor as marriage is between a man and a woman homosexuals can not marry and therefore a sexual partnership can not be legitimate in the eyes of God.
Having nailed my colours to the mast I am left to ask is homosexuality a worse sin than adultery or fornication

Concerning Gays, didn't the bible say something like "the pot doesn't look at the potter and say What have you made of me" It's supposed to be a comment about being true to yourself.
Christianity has been hijacked by totalitarians.
Good Luck.
