What is the best whiskey to use in a Manhattan?

I am looking for the perfect Manhattan recipe and more specifically the best whiskey to use in a Manhattan.

Traditionally, straight rye whiskey was used, but these days a lot of people prefer Canadian whiskey, also bourbon.

I think it would depend on your tastes. Many people would say "Jack" is their best friend. I used to drink canadian club. I think it is purely up to your tastes. :)
