Craving ice chewing can be a sign of being iron deficient. It is called "phagophasia". Take a mult-vite with iron if your diet isn't so great.
It can also be a sign of emotional problems.
Does that mean either of these are your problem? No. It could, but it doesn't mean it does.
It wouldn't hurt to have a physical with your doctor just to be sure.

this can't do you any harm it's water really, but suck on it don't bite down it. It will harm your teeth it make little crack in them. But most of the time people that are expecting baby's do this so maybe you are lacking some vitamin or just water. You should ask your Dr. Nothing to freak out about it's been a year and you are fine right. God Bless

I eat ice all the time, I get bowls of crushed ice from my freezer and eat it all the time especially on the computer and tv. I'd say just drink a lot of milk, or eat calcium rich foods so that your teeth grow stronger to endure the crushing of the hard ice... I actually just thought of that ^_^ It's just a habit for me, plus you get hydrated and everything soo... I wouldn't worry, but don't eat it if your teeth or something else hurts.

its possible to do you harm. You can easily crack your teeth, which is not so good. Try cutting down to 2 cubes 2 times a day, then keep decreasing it.. at the end you will stop chewing those cubes. >.< not the best advice..

I used to do that all the time. I grew out of it by the time I was about 10.
Seriously though, that is definitely a sign of OCD. I have that myself; the only cure for this condition is to stop it. Stop it right now - before it gets worse. OCD always gets worse if you let it take a hold: you must fight it while you still can.

Addiction to ice usually indicates a vitamin or mineral deficiency. You probably need more iron and perhaps other trace elements in your diet. Eat more fruits and veggies and perhaps add a daily vitamin to your diet and see if that lessens your need for ice.

My 3 year old is obsessed with ice. She would have it for breakfast lunch and dinner if I let her. Ice is actually not bad for you because it is only water. If that is your only addiction then you are fine.

I don't think it can, it is only water. It was my main craving through pregnancy. Now I am chewing gum a lot instead! Think most people have a 'thing' luckily yours isn't going to damage you're health!
Contact you're doc if you get over obsessive though e.g you think something terrible will happen or you get very frustrated if you don't eat it.

Depends where you're getting the ice from! Don't eat yellow snow remember!
If it's just ice cubes you've made in the frezer, then why should it hurt you? It's onl water!!!

If you like smash up the ice before you eat it and leave in your mouth before you chew it so it melts a bit, i don't see the harm in it.
