A guy I know said he thinks I'm beautiful and sexy but he's not attracted to me. When I asked him what he meant by attraction, he said interpersonal chemistry. What is interpersonal chemistry? A lot of people these days use the word "chemistry". Is chemistry an effortless connection, a natural rapport between people when their personalities mesh well together/when there is an intense attraction to someone's personality? Is it being extremely drawn/attracted to someone's personality?

It's not strictly personality, because your personality could be terrific, but just not suited to his tastes. Interpersonal chemistry is a fifteen dollar phrase used to refer to a five cent bit of common sense: how well or poorly you two communicate (verbally and non-verbally), and it's a completely subjective thing. You may be poorly suited to one guy, and perfect for another guy, and there's no way to predict how or when that truth will manifest itself....but it will. So, definitely don't take this personally.

Lol at smitty's proclamation. I am so not a feminist, but sexual chemistry is non-negotiable for me. It has to be there, or I will not stay interested. The interpersonal chemistry is important too, because we need to be compatible and like each other to maintain a long term relationship. However, I think the difference would be that I have other friends that are able to fulfill some of my needs in the interpersonal arena.
