We enter the world of taxes and other stuff right?

But once you stop working, do I still have to pay taxes?

I want to get a summer job (possibly next year) and I want to make sure.

Make sure the job you get withholds taxes from your paycheck. It's not likely your summer job will pay enough to require you to pay taxes, anyway. In any case, you only pay when you're working, not when you aren't. And you can apply to get the prepaid tax amounts back at the end of the year.
Keep records of how much you make if you work for an individual rather than a company (as a babysitter, for instance). Put at least 50% of everything you earn in a savings account. You'll appreciate it later!

Your first $600.00 of earned income is not taxed though other $$$ is taken out for disability & social security after that state, federal and local taxes are also taken from each check . With your first job usually lower wages you probably won't have to pay taxes. What you paid in taxes will likely be returned to you. But you have to fill out the forms ( state & federal) to be sure. Your parents probably claim you on their form if you are in school. Some children work out a deal with their parents because your parents get a lot more money claiming you as a dependant than you would just filing on your own. Also be aware that if you have more than one job the first $600 from each job isn't taxed so that is $1,200 that you haven't paid the taxes for.

a minumum wage job for 21/2 months out of the year isn't going to give you enough income to pay taxes, unless you make around $20,000 a year because then you qualify for taxes.

Yes, if you have a job you have to file tax returns and pay taxes if you make enough money.

If you don't work for an entire year, and don't have other income either, then you don't file for that year.
