I worked for a major law firm in NY about 10 yrs ago. I had quit because my supervisor (female) was always in my azz about "something" - anything - even though my work was excellent, I worked late & wkends all the time & had no problems. I think she was jealous of me but anyway, I quit & tried to come back later but they rejected me. They said I "left them high & dry" - but at the same time, I got good letters of references from a top lawyer there and also from the manager in the MIS Dept. Now I want to apply for a job in one of their offices in another state but I'm afraid someone in the NY office will try to sabotage me. I never did anything to jeopardize my job when I worked in the NY office but I believe a few people there was jealous of me when I worked there & they always found a reason to approach me about something insignificant.

Does anyone think I'd have a problem if I applied & got a job in one of their offices in another state? Is there a way to ensure I'd be secure if I worked at that firm again in another state? Or should I stay away from that firm altogether?

Nothing ventured nothing gained, in other words the worst thing you can hear is no. After 10 years people change I say go for it

Your chances of being accepted back another law firm's branch office [in another state] is not likely to happen since, you are well aware, law firms are noted for keeping meticulous employee records overall. I know for a fact, on a personal level, that a once-fired employee back more than 10 years ago; was recently turned away by the same law firm even though it had merged with another law firm. Again, your pursuit of being rehired back with the law firm may not succeed.

Good luck!
