Drinking alcohol in moderation is in fact good for you. I'd agree that drinking too much (how you define "too much" is a difficult question) can be bad.

Anything done to excess is bad for you. Alcohol can be very harmful if done to excess as can nicotine, cocaine, marajuana, or methamphetamines.

Why you are even considering partaking in this rite of passage is beyond me. Nothing good ever became of drinking alcohol. Think about your parents. How would they react if anything happened to you? I know how they would react. I lost my daughter to a drunk driver. They would hurt for the rest of their lives.

Do you want to be responsible for that?

well, jeez, it depends very much upon the alcohol you are drinking. Red wine is quite a different proposal than vodka, for instance. The purer the alcohol, the less good it is for your body, especially the liver, in the long run.

it does a lot of damage to the liver, it's even more when you are taking some type of pills... But when you get really drunk... it's bad for the people around you ;)) you never know what you'll start doing :D
