Wow, I'm jealous, I just got a male akita pup but so far he's on the small side. I'd love for him to get that size!

The size range for an adult male akita is 90-110 lbs. My research has shown that they tend to reach their full height by 6-7 months, so he will probably not get much taller. However, they continue to add bulk/muscle for up to 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised if your boy reached 100 lbs. by the time he is 2 years, but at the lease he'll probably make 90 lbs. I'd love to see some pics!

I have a dog that is a mixture between an akita and a german shepard. He is pretty big, around 99 pounds I believe even though he doesn't look that heavy.Since your dog is a full akita, he will probly grow pretty big and around 100 punds or even bigger. Not all dogs are the same.By the way, dont believe people when they tell u your dog will grow up to be mean and dangerous. That is usually the dog owner's fault.Be a good owner and play with him, feed him, walk him, brush him and take him to the vet for checkups or when needed. If you treat him well u will earn his trust and he will protect you.Akita's are big, strong canines and if u build a bond with him he wont let anything bad happen to you.Ofcourse he might want some attention every now and then.My dog is always looking for attention after I trained him and took care of him. :) good luck

like others have said the ideal adult weight would be from 90 to 110 lbs, my boy was about 90lbs at 10 months but at his now 12 months of age has just hit 100lbs so has only gained 10 lbs in the last 2 months or so. He did also in this time grow more than an inch taller.

the potential or stature of an Akita is going to count on breeding. in case you obtain your canine from an outstanding breeder who breeds them for conformation and wellbeing exams their inventory you're greater probable to wind up with an Akita this is sound in suggestions AND physique. Do the $2 hundred newspaper or BYB Akita? you are able to desire to wind up with an Akita with toothpick legs, hip displasia and a hectic or nasty temperament. i became an Akita individual for some years and that i will inform you this...pedigree and breeding, makes each and every of the version interior the visual appeal of the canine. And a sturdy breeder purely breeds the final.

I would think that he shall be at least 80 or 90 lbs . but be preparred because they dont have a long life span usually like 8 -10 yrs . and they also have a tendancy to have their intenstines twist on them so be carefull and this a breed you have to watch carefully . good luck .
