what percentage of animal testing is misleading/ or doesn't work because animals have different responses?

The problem is, there is no way to find out.

I am sure stats on this matter are not kept and animals are not people

I don't know the exact statistics, but sadly, it's a lot more prevalent than people realize. I am vehemently opposed to animal testing, since I'm one of those radicals who doesn't believe in animal cruelty. That much, I can tell you. You are absolutely correct, however, in your assumption that animal testing is not only misleading, but is totally unnecessary and cruel. Animals were not created to be guinea pigs. In our technological era, there are other ways of testing products that do not involve cruelty to the four-legged creatures; such as computer models, which incidentally are far more accurate.
