My wife has an allergic reaction to pretty much any bandage-type of material with adhesive, tape, etc. She breaks out in a bright red rash wherever the stuff sits on her skin. Is there a brand that can help her avoid that, or any alternatives to adhesive?

This all started when the pain patch she wears starting causing a reaction, so she tried using band-aids and tapes to hold it in place, and then got the same if not worse reaction. Could it be something in the adhesive itself? We're stumped...

There are bandages on the market that are made for sensitive skin. Believe it or not, there are many people who are sensitive to bandage adhesive tape. You just have to look in the aisle where the bandages are.

I have the same problem (maybe not as severe though) and didn't realize no one else had this problem until I was getting stitches removed and the nurse commented on my rash from the bandage! She said they make bandages for it and I shouldn't have to deal with that...

So I know this isn't the most helpful advice, but those bandages do exist out there--maybe search online for "sensitive skin bandage" and see what pops up :)

I am also sensitive to adhesives. Nothing works-even paper tape is causing a severe rash.

I have that problem also. I have found that the bandades with the flexible fabric do not irritate my skin. Also I have used paper tape and a non stick pad or gauze pad. You also might want to look for hypoallergenic tapes.

It sounds like your wife might be allergic to latex. Until you find a bandage that is safe for her, I agree with Nurseusiep.

Buy the ones that say Latex free. also just some gauze and medical tape sometimes called paper tape will work. (like they use when you get blood drawn)

completely wrap the area and apply the tape to the dressing instead of her skin.
