So many times a day I see people tell others how its impossible to have a period while pregnant.
But it's not true, considering I have had 4 people in my family have periods all through their pregnancies. Came out with healthy babies.
Also there are plenty of sites, that specifically say its not uncommon nowadays to have a period during pregnancy.

Can you be pregnant and still have a period?
To start with, always remember that pregnancy and periods can never go along simultaneously. If you are indeed pregnant, technically, you cannot get your periods. Missing your period is actually the first sign of pregnancy. Bleeding in early pregnancy is a common occurrence, but this does not signal a true menstrual cycle. You must realize that the hormones that are active during pregnancy totally prevent ovulation. As we know, ovulation is the time in your cycle when the egg is released into the uterus and women experience menstrual bleeding. Since the egg in pregnant women is already fertilized, ovulation does not occur and hence no bleeding.
Early Pregnancy Bleeding
However, it is not uncommon to find that many women do report getting what seem like regular periods during early pregnancy. The bleeding that pregnant women complain about though is not truly a menstrual period. It can be called as early pregnancy bleeding. The perception of having a menstrual period (or more than one) in early pregnancy can confuse the due date and delay some pregnant women from seeking appropriate and timely medical care. In instances where a couple is unaware that they are expecting, it can be particularly emotionally challenging to find out about the pregnancy at the same time they are told that the bleeding might signal a problem.

Technically speaking, it IS impossible to have a period when you are pregnant. A PERIOD is when the egg does not get fertilized and so everything clears out, obviously that is not what happens when you are pregnant. It IS possible to have bleeding during pregnancy, but not a period.

That would not be period but spotting and intermittent bleeding. A period is defined as the bleeding and the sloughing of the lining of the uterus along with the unfertilised egg. Since it is difficult to distinguish these two, in a way you are right, but the regularity of the period will probably be missing.

It's not usual but it's possible and it doesn't mean your babies will have problems.
The periods only stop because you're producing high amount of Oestragen, a hormones that stops the period happening and is apparent in urine. This is how people know they are pregnant (usually).
There is a risk of losing the baby if you have a period early into the pregnancy, that's all.

You are quiet right it is not the least bit unusual to have a" period" when pregnant.In my experience however it is different from their normal pre-pregnant period usually being lighter ,lasting a shorter period of time and pain free

that must be a recessive gene or something. i would guess that happens not very often with the entire population though. i'll take your word for it, girls educate themselves more in general than guys on this stuff. please go answer some more questions--- there are a lot of ill-informed girls out there.
