I heard the other day that a soldier had to give his dog to the shelter as he was being deployed and had no family to take the dog..

Is there a fostering organization for this? I am sure there are lots of families who would take the dog while the owner was away..

I thought about posting it there, but I figured since it is focused on pets of military families only, I put it here

Im not sure about all bases, but I know our base has a foster home program for pets of deployed soldiers its ran through the veterinary services. My one friend runs a foster home for pets, and she lets the soldiers see their pets on web cam when ever they want. I think its an awesome idea

Patrioticpets.org, your local humane society, local vets offices. The vets in town at our last base kept lists of people who were willing to foster an animal if their owner got deployed. Also, check with the nearest base vet to see if they have a list as well.

Edit... sorry about that. Just had it in my list of resources. Guess I'll have to take that one off!

There are a couple of organizations that do this. Below is a link to one of them.

BTW - you should post this question to the pets forum.
