Alright. So I have this little 5 year old carin terrier/Dauchsund Mix. I've never seen any signs of illness...but about...eh a year a go, ive noticed that she has these large lumps on her lower back, at first i thought it could be a tumor or something, but then I realized it was also on the other side so I figured it must be her kidneys, shes been drinking more water, but still has an appetite and doesnt seem to be in any pain. Do you think these are muscles? [[Because she runs ALOT]] or...is my little dog dying?

[My mom says scooter is PERFECTLY fine, and i shouldnt worry about anything, but....she never realy listens...im still trying to convince her that she NEEDS to be taken into the vet just to be sure, but....she wont :(]

=[

Please help me, i dont want to say goodbye :(

it's not kidney failure i can tell you that, there are a number of choices 1 it is natural for your dog 2 your dog has kidney STONES 3 well i don't really have any third guess so i would take him to a vet because nobody could give advice that would be as good as a proffesional, espicially me :)

I am so sorry to tell you this but , you have to say goodbye and the sooner you do it the kinder you are, it is unfortunate for you and your dog that it has come to this but what you don't want is for complete shut down when the kidney and then the rest of the organs pack in for good and the dog . Sorry you don't need to hear what follows nor do you need to witness anything nasty. Promise me that you will ring the vet and ask him to visit your home in the next 48hrs and let him go to sleep for the last time, you should all say goodbye and remember all the fun times as that is what having a dog is about, they are to make you feel good not sad. Yes i do know how you feel as we had to make the same decision in october 2008 and it still hurts writing this, but for God's sake do not let him go into complete shut down. We didn't but we never want to put a dog through that just so that we get a few hours more with the dog we LOVE because them few hours could mean severe pain and stress for your pet and an image you can never forget. Please do what is right even if it feels like hell at this present time. You will thank me in the long run. Thinking of you and your dog xxxxxx

Do you mean to say that this dog hasn't been to a vet in over a year? Even if there were nothing wrong, he should be checked over by a vet, just as a child is taken to the doctor for an annual checkup. I don't know how you can convince your mother, but if you have any money saved, it would be well worth it to take the dog to a vet without telling your mother and paying for it out of your own money. Sometimes, we have to make sacrifices to do the right thing.

You noticed lumps/growths on your dog a year ago and she never went to the vet for it? So she hasn't had her vaccinations or anything for over a year either? No only is that illegal for her not to be vaccinated, it's neglect for her not to have a health check. Take her to a vet now. She needs a full physical, blood work for heart worm, and her vaccinations. If your mom won't take her and you aren't able try to find a friend or family member that will. This is negligence.

Sounds like she has fatty tumors of some type. My Standard has these and they are not harmful. Still, she should be seen by a qualified vet.

And if these have been there for a year, you have little to worry about. Kidney failure has very specific indications such as lethargy, vomiting, not eating, drinking huge amounts of water.

don't jump to conclusions, you can't diagnose that yourself, go to the vet and they can tell you what, if anything is going on. hopefully everything is ok but go to the vet so at least you know and can stop worrying and possibly discuss treatment options. if she has anything the earlier you catch it the better they'll be able to treat it. good luck i hope she's okay.
