What a great concept... I would have filed to stop 25 years ago if I could have done that...
The system is a scam, so sad.

Go to www.livetaxfree.com and it will address your question there. It says you can quit and get a refund - obviously you would not be able to collect later. I quit paying the IRS taxes most dont even legally owe years ago and almost went through the process of stopping the SSI from being removed as well - but decided I felt pretty good about killing off the greater of two evils - Now I am going to go through with the other. For the rest of you people who said no - dont be so lazy - what did you do, ask at the SSA office? Silly rabbits, any thing is possible.

No. But I sure wouldn't count on it.
Funny enough employees of railroads don't pay into Social security, as they have their own governmen6t approved pension.
Not sure how that came about.

No, there's no truth to that old urban legend whatsoever. The SS taxes you are paying are not for your future benefit but for the benefit of current SS recipients. Once you retire the benefits you receive will come from people paying SS taxes at that time.

not true. the only persons that can opt out of it are pastors.
sad, cause the system don't work... it's going to be in the negative in 10 years or so (I forget the exact date)... it will be spending more than it takes in..
how will politicians fix/fund it? Raise our taxes of course.
