usually try to convert people to their faith. I have never in my life been asked or tried to be converted by a Muslim ( which I lived with a Muslim family for two weeks and my best friend is Muslim) or Jew or Hindu or Sikh etc. Why can't they be more accepting of others faith?

Everyone is going to think that their religion is the Truth and who are the Christians to say what is the truth and what is not.
Those Muslim (not really Muslims) who did those bombings are not following the true teachings of Islam.

I have tried to tell them politely and guess what, that is one of the reasons me and my father to speak to each other.
As for experience.... One boyfriend Hindu, one Muslim and by having a friend I have met almost all the Muslim community in Miami!! I come from a catholic background so that includes Catholicism too!!

The age old question. It's been going on for many ages, it won't stop now. The holy wars even continue today. They just find a different way to explain them to the people. Isn't it funny how after we(America) invaded Iraq, we forced OUR beliefs on them. Democracy(oh yea, thats working just swell for us), Christianity(priests were sent over and now churches our replacing mosques). Will it ever end? Who knows. Hopfully, somewhere down the road the christians leading this charge across the world will realize that not everyone needs to think like them, and to live and let live, IN PEACE.

Christians invite people to come and know the Truth of Jesus Christ. We do this because we know the Truth, and we want to provide the opportunity for all of mankind to know Him also.
Muslims, Hindus and even Buddhists come with the sword, and demand that you convert or die. Whether you know it or not, the top Muslim clerics have pronounced that either America will convert to Islam, or there will be justifiable and horrible attacks against civilians, women and children, until all the infidels are dead or have converted.
Hmmm, where do you find more acceptance of other's faith? America, founded on Christians principles, or Islamic countries where they regularly behead followers of other religions?
Stop with your sorry drivel about "acceptance". Wake up and smell the explosives that are being smuggling into the US even now.

Please don't generalize, as you are doing it now, if you haven't noticed. Try to be fair to all people including the Christians.
You should come out more away from your lap top. The world is so big, and so much is happening away from your innocent eyes. Just because it did not happen to you, it doesn't mean it is not going on. Look up Egypt, and ye shall learn.
Who are the Muslims to say that theirs is the truth and others is Not?! A question that can be asked by any religion all over the world, not just the Christians.
Maybe my dear they didn't try to convert you to Islam, because you already are one!?!
If that what makes you happy good for you, but please Live and let live. You don't have to knock others down just to validate your beliefs. Please.
Add: You live in Miami, and meet most Muslims in your community! how is that possible, when the Muslim community is so large.
You are young. "Yes Stephaine, there is so much more for you to see."

Sweeping Generalization......false....
Have you met every person of every faith throughout the world? Can you claim that no one of any other faith has ever tried to convert anyone?
You lived with ONE family. You have ONE best friend who is Muslim. That doesn't sound as if you've had a wide range of experience.
You are one person in a whole big universe. Do you mean to say that just because no one other than a Christian has ever tried to convert YOU that this proves that only Christians try to convert others?
Surely not!
Have you read ALL of the questions asked here by Muslims?
I have seen several in which they attempt to persuade others to join their cause.
Have you read all of the posts by Jews, Buddhists, etc. Have you met every person of every faith throughout the world? Do you have proof that NO ONE on any other faith has ever tried to convert others?
Please provide statistics.
Thanks a lot!

There are instructions in the Bible for them to spread their faith. Not by force, "go out into all the world and preach the Gospel"----stuff like that. And not ALL Christians shove their faith down your throat. Just like all Muslims won't chop your head off for not converting.

I love how ignorant you sound. The Christian faith has SO many people in it, and not everyone's trying to convert you. And if you're not interested, how hard is it to politely tell them that?
Anyway, it's part of the Christian faith to try to spread the Word. Christians are trying to help you when they try to share their faith with you because it works for them and they truly believe that it will work for you, too, if you give it a chance. You act as though they're acting malicious somehow.

You did want to attack Christians here I think more than ask your question. Still you did ask 'Why do Christian try to convert people'.... We were commanded by our Lord to do so. Jim
Matthew 28 19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I can only speak for those of The True Christian Faith... We know The Truth... We Know that those who do not come to God, in The Way He prescibes, will be eternaly seperated from God... and that is definatly not a good thing to be facing... We of The Faith are commissioned by God to give The Good News of His Salvation Message... but... no one may be compelled to "believe"... no "threats" or swords may be used to spread The Word of God... unfortunatly, many Christians, in their zeal tend to go overboard from time -to-time in their efforts to get The Word out... But God dose not condone"cramming it down throats"

In the Bible God says to go out and tell others of their faith,it's just something we do, don't feel obligated to join.
Most Christians are not accepting of other faith because we believe God is the way the truth and the light he is and always will be.
I'm sorry if this sounds strange to you but I am a Christian and strong in my faith.

As Christians, we live under the great commission: given to us by Jesus Christ,"Go ye therefore into all the world, preaching the gospel of Peace." If we are really followers of Christ, then we will speak to as many people as possible about Him. I believe that Yahoo Answers gives me a unique opportunity to do, just that.
