Sin is sin. But, like you say, some sins are more wicked than others. ALL need repentance.

It really depends on the lie and the reason for the killing.

If you tell a lie that results in someone's death compared to killing someone in self defense . . .

Well, I think the lie is worse.

But I never did buy into all that jazz, that a person who has just one lustful thought is as evil as HIlter.

All sin is NOT equal in God's eyes. The very notion is utterly absurd. If that were true, then all human beings would go to hell. All human beings sin against God, and some of them go to hell as a result, so if all sins are equal, all sinners would go to hell. Jesus Himself said "he who has delivered me over to you is guilty of the GREATER sin". How would that be possible if all sin were the same? Also, John tells us that "there are sins unto death", and "sins not unto death". Which is why God's Church has always referred to some sins as "mortal sins" (meaning "unto death") and others as "venial" sins (not unto death).

Christian concept: All things bad are sins. All sinners will burn in Hell. What a wonderful religion, huh?
