Back pressure test is remove a O2 sensor hook up a pressure gauge Midas Muffler and other muffler shops will love to sell you new cat converters. For correct fit and corect performance use Ford manifold cats. Any misfire causes converters overheating problems trying to burn off raw fuel causes cats to break up. Now the word of warning. Forcing a truck to run blows broken chunks of cat converter into the engine one exhaust valve opens when another is closing and some abrasive ceramic cat converter materal is digested. That kills the motor. Fix it fast before engine is dammaged watch for oil comsumption. And oil getting black fast.

are you absolutely positive its the converter??

about the only thing you can do if you want to replace it is to do just that but converters are on the expensive side there are other reasons why a car loses power.dirty fuel injectors for example
