How the heck do you use windows movie maker? It wont work for me.?

So I have save all the pictures saved on my computer, and I want to make a slide show for youtube. I've made them on websites but youtube wont take urls so I have to make on on movie maker. Could someone tell me ho to use it? A error message keeps popping up saying An error occurred when opening this file. Its either not a windows movie maker project file or the project file is corrupted. what dose that mean. Ill be greatful if you can help.
