I don't think it's such a good idea to compare anyone with anyone because everyone isn't the same, and we can't expect them to be.
Women tend to think that their men are gonna change and be just how they want them, but that isn't the way it works. I think maybe her dad was a big influence in her life, and that is why she compares him with you. We usually look for the good qualities in men that out father's had, if any. You need to explain to her that you don't want to be compared to her dad, and you're you-noone else. She should had known this when she married you. It's not fair to our men for us to compare them.

Some women really look up to and respect their dad and want their partners (subconsciously or not) to be like their father. This can be good or bad; obviously your ex-wife used this against you.

In that situation I just would have had a talk with your ex-wife and told her that it's frustrating to hear that you're not meeting her expectations (set by her father), since you love her and want to be the best husband you can be.

P.S Not all women compare their partners to their father...I never have.

I know I am a man. But being raised around a bunch of women and gettting to listen to them talk to each other about about the men they date, I pretty much know why they compare us to their fathers. A woman's dad is the first man in every woman's life. The type of father a girl has tends to mold their views on how men are supposed to behave and conduct themselves.

If a woman had a close and loving relationship with their father, they tend to want a man who closely resemble the type of man he is. These are the type of women I tend to fancy want in my life. Women who were daddy's princess tend to be more positive, self-confident and not believe that we men are generally pigs.

The only downside is that some are high maintainance women. Personally I would rather deal with them than the ones who believe the only thing a man is good for is to pay her bills and for sex.

To a girl,The first sense of the opposite sex she gets is with her father. At that age,she adores her father. He is her hero. He can do no wrong in her eyes. That adoration continues as she grows up. Even after she is a grown woman, gets married.has children, the affection is always there and continues. That is the reason for woman comparing their husbands to their father.
It is very similar to the men always comparing their mother to their wives.

my husband and my dad are totally diffrent, but they share some interests like fishing which is quite cool.Your ex is obviously a daddy's girl and wants her man to be like her dad which is a bit creepy which is maybe the reason why she's no longer your wife!

Because, for most women, their fathers have had the biggest male influence in their lives. They are usually held in higher regard, so all other men have to work to achieve the same respect.

Because our Dad is our first man figure and some girls want a guy somewhat like their dad( they can not be a deadbeat).

Coz we want men like our heroes... dad is my hero and yeah I want someone just like him! But your marriage broke off so it shows she was just messing with you or she would have stayed instead! No use talking about men being like daddy when you are planning for a divorce. Its stupid!!

My dad is a deadbeat. So I think it would be silly to compare anyone to him.
