Thanks, Nadsa - so why has my agent just given me a ticket today with such a tight connecting schedule? Would I have any redress if I missed the main flight?

If your travel agent has given you this ticket it might well be that there are arrangements to make you go through security faster.
You might be able to check in at your first airport and go not have to queue up for the security.
So ask your agent, and tell the people when you check in for the first leg.

If you don't havre to re-check you luggages, assuming you bought ONE ticket from you departure city to destination and it is a connecting flight only, you should be OK. Airline will transfer your luggages directly to Cathay Pacific. I don't know about Hong Kong airport, but why do you think you will go to thru security again from one gate to another.

oh my goodness...not enough time at all..you should be at the airport at least 2 hours...the security measures are so tight..you never know what to expect..and also you need to get to your gate at least 30-45 minuites before departure because that is typically when you board the plane...i hope this helped!!
