Studies suggest that the average university entrant has a 12 point higher IQ than the general population, but I don't believe you have to be super smart to succeed at University.
Having been to Uni I have met many different Uni students. Some were so super smart that they never studied and hardly attended lectures, but still seemed to pull it together with above average grades. On the other end of the spectrum I met people who weren't to bright, but worked and studied really hard to reach par and pass.
I think if you really want to do it, and are willing to apply yourself and do the hard work (or even get a tutor if you don't understand the lectures) then anyone can succeed at uni !
Attitude is everything !

Smart people might have an easier time, but that doesn't mean it's just for smart people. Those who aren't quite as smart just have to work harder.
And education isn't just about having a better life: it's (or should be) about being better people, enlarging our knowledge, awareness and thinking. Getting a paper that says you have a degree doesn't necessarily guarantee a better life. There was a time when people got a higher education simply to better themselves; it's still a good reason.

Generally you have to demonstrate a level of intelligence to show that you are capable of taking in the lessons, otherwise you are wasting both your and the tutors' time. This is why there are standards to reach before acceptance. However in U K it is possible to enter a university as a 'mature student' even if you don't have the necessary entrance qualifications and depending on what you wish to study. Contact your local university's website for details.

University is for people who want to be smart by learning more about something they are interested in.
If you are genuinely interested in learning it should be for you, it makes no difference how much you know.
If you knew everything what would be the point of school and university?!

I've listened to perfectly average and very ignorant and sometimes unintelligent people and read their essays in university. It's for anyone who wants a better life...I suppose. Anyone can go to it, that's for sure.
