hmm....not sure where your going here with this one. i am quite the liberal and can admit that some wars were worth fighting if the reason we went to war were really what us as the American society knows to be it as. Such as the Civil War...WWI...Korean War (though we didn't have to stay as long as we have), WWII

I highly doubt that you can even say that Hitler could have been taken out any other way than how it happened. If you feel so strongly with that statement of yours "Fighting for Peace same as Screwing for Virginity" can you back it up and give examples? Other than Gandhi for instance, I would like to know what you would have done with Hitler or in dealing with the Confederates during the Civil War?

This answer may not be in the right area, but I still have to say this. i am a veteran of the gulf war and have served my country in Afghanistan PROUDLY. Every soldier male or female have the right to be honored and commended for their actions in these conflicts. Take a person directly out of highschool and give them 8 weeks of basic, 13 weeks of Advanced training and then throw them into a war in which the enemy has been breed and trained on war tactics all their life and ask our soldiers to complete their mission within a time line is disrespectful and un realistic. BUT our soldiers have done just that they went and did as their commanders asked, and have proven that we are the SHEEPDOGS of society. You may not believe in the reason they are over there but lets get our heads out of the sand and understand that the USA had no intentions on staying there as long as we have. If you do some basic research you will see that because of the media this war has lasted longer then expected, Because of the media the actions in Afghanistan has escelated. the tactics posted on the BBC and other journalists in country have given the "Taliban" ideas on how to fight the NATO and US forces. for 5 years there was little resistance on the rebuilding in Afghanistan, relationships were being made with tribal leaders, barriers were being torn down and road blocks removed. but now we are trying to fight the Taliban and the media influence. The same aplies to Iraq. In order to gain ground in either conflict we must consider keeping the media out of the war. and insure that the facts are accurate not exploited to suit the currosity of the media.

Depends on what your idea of peace is. If it is merely the absence of conflict then I guess you are right. But if you want to stop injustice sometimes it is necessary to fight.

Would you say that it would be OK if the Nazi's were still slaughtering Jews and ran Europe.

Would it be a good thing if the Japanese continued to murder Chinese and attack American targets.

Would you think that it would be a positive thing if millions of African Americans were the property of others.

All of these things and many more were solved because certain people thought that it would be better to risk their lives than allow these things to go on. Peace at any price is more deadly than any war I could imagine.

No
WWII if we didn't fight what kind of country would this be.

Peace is not the absence of war.

It is knowing you have security.

How in your world would you deal with lets say 9/11. Just pick up, clean up, and forget it.

That makes no sense to me. The problem is we are dealing with an evil that would see you line as sign of weakness and should be taken over.

HAHAHA did you write that, or did your mommy write it for you? How did that paradoxical "peace" after WWII work out after 250, 000 Americans died, huh? How many wars have France, Germany, Italy and Japan fought on their home soil in the last 60 years? *Marine Drill Instructor voice* Go@#ammit, maggots, the USA will achieve peace through superior firepower! NOW DO SOME PUSH-UPS!

A great example is the Israeli-Palestine conflict. There will never be peace, not until they finally go to a full scale war and one side kicks the hell out of the other. All these negotiated peace deals always go nowhere.

Real classy post here Lisa. You should be proud of yourself.

This post makes no sense. Nevermind the fact that it is posted in a forum and totally disrespectful to the men and women who are likely to see it and are putting their lives on the line every day for someone like you. They are doing their jobs. It is people like you that it make it harder for them.

Grow up.

What doesn't make since is being opposed to fighting against those who would require us by law to face East 5 times a day to pray to the god of terrorism.

If someone walks up to you and starts punching you in the face you don't think you should punch back? Sometimes only by fighting can you obtain peace.
