If we would just kill them quicker before the new killers come of age and begin their murderous careers it wouldnt be an issue now would it? All we gotta do is kill the killers and rapists and child molesters faster than they can be replaced with new ones. If you dont kill em.....all we get is stuck having to feed them and house them so they can teach a whole new generation of criminals in prison how to do what they did better.

For more about this take a look at the Death Penalty Information Center. You will also see that within the United States, homicide rates are higher in states and regions with the death penalty than in those without it.

One of your answers mentions that the death penalty prevents murderers from repeating their crime. He has confused deterrence (persuading others not to commit a crime) with incapacitation (preventing criminals from reoffending.) To act as a deterrent a punishment must be swift and sure. The death penalty is neither. Life without parole is now available in 48 states. It means what it says, it is swift and sure and costs much less than the death penalty. It incapacitates criminals.

More crime and murders happens in countries that have the death penalty. There is a reason for that, it has been studied that the threat of the death penalty only creates more violence, it doesn't work as a motive not to do crime.

Interesting question! The answer is NO.
The US is the last of the developed nations that retains the death penalty, and the only one where you hear about kids shooting friends to death in schools.

No other developed nation that abolished the death penalty had a higher crime rate
