seriously I just saw the best answer to a question on how to thaw chicken fast for the george foreman grill.
Here is what won best answer :
"I would pre-cook it by par-boiling it. Just put a little water in a skillet (about halfway up the chicken) and bring to a boil, then simmer until unthawed and almost done. Pop it on the grill and it will be cooked all the way through and still have the grilled flavor".
As a cook myself i was appalled that this answer was the best choice. boiling from frozen totally destroys the flavour of the chicken , the flavor bleeds out into the water. thats how you get chicken soup. then you are throwing away the soup and eating the flavourless husk of the chicken.
PEOPLE. You have to eat every day of your life. try a bit of planning. if you put the chicken in the fridge the night before in a marinade it will thaw into that flavour by the next day. but you can keep it a day or 2 if your plans change so plan a couple of meals .

thawing 2 days in advance gives you flexibility in your menu and allows more spontaneity in your life
the marinades a simple combination of veg oil black pepper thyme and garlic powder is just about universal for all meat or you can use special store bought sauces teriyaki
thaw out and flavor the food while you sleep and work. best of all there is no safety concern about temperature
just buy fresh or frozen product in the first place. not "last day of sale" food .

The best way is to let it thaw naturally, that is out of the freezer and into the fridge, preferably overnight. The danger with cooking partly thawed chicken is that you may experience what happened to me. In 1980 I attended an engagement party at a local pub. The food was a buffet and we each got a plate with various items on it including piece of hot fried chicken. I started eating mine until suddenly I bit into ice. The piece hadn't been thawed properly. When I complained I was told that more guests had arrived than expected so they just quickly fried some partly thawed portions. Next night I had severe stomach pains and couldn't keep off the toilet. I felt really ill. I went to the doctor who referred me to hospital where I was kept in for a month with severe salmonella and campylobacter poisioning. This developed into ulcerative colitis. Result : I was off work for 6 months, lost three stones in weight and am now supposed to take 6 tablets a day for life to stop the colitis becoming cancerous. They identified the salmonella strain as coming from the mediterranean area, Spain, Italy or Greece and reckoned that the chicken had been handled by a carrier who had probably used the toilet without washing their hands afterwards. Fortunately my symptoms have gone now but every couple of years I have to go to hospital for an endoscopy which entails having an anaesthetic and a camera shoved up my rectum whilst they search for signs of cancer. Wonderful. Thanks very much to the dirty swine who infected me and to all readers BEWARE unthawed and undercooked chicken.

I saw that "best answer" and was very surprised, too. I do it the same way you do...put it from the freezer into the fridge the day before I plan on cooking it. That allows it to thaw slowly and safely without boiling out all the juices and flavor.
Well, I guess we know who's dinner invitation we'd turn down! LOL

I will generally put mine in the frig the day before...or maybe when I go to work that morning...
On occassion, I have nuked it to defrost. But I generally don't like that as it tends to make the meat rubbery.
I have parboiled and used the liquid to then make pasta / rice to go with the meat...... But not usually.
Have a great day!

I totally agree with you. People today often think that they are to busy to plan anything. Well if they would take the time to plan, they would not have to rush throughout the day trying to get-r-done! :)
