What kind?
every kind...don't you remember the beautiful, yet tragic tale from your studies as a child?

The story of Noah's Ark, according to chapters 6 to 9 in the Book of Genesis, begins with God observing man's evil behaviour and deciding to flood the earth and destroy all life. However, God found one good man, Noah, "a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time," and decided that he would carry forth the lineage of man. God told Noah to make an ark, and to bring with him his wife, and his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives.

--> Additionally, he was told to bring examples of all animals and birds, male and female.

In order to provide sustenance, he was told to bring and store food.

Noah and his family and the animals entered the Ark, and "the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights." The flood covered even the highest mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet, and all creatures on Earth died; only Noah and those with him on the Ark were left alive.[3]

Mostlikely they were land animals that could adapt to a world after the flood. There were 4 of each animal (one pair of clean, one pair of unclean). I am sure there were several species left behind (too big, unable to adapt or not useful to humans). And I am pretty sure they were baby animals as adult animals would have taken up too much space. I am sure there were many kinds of animals which we have never seen or heard of..as they mostlikely evolved or adpated into more commonly known species over the past 6,000 years. I am sure many of them became exitinct eventually.

How did Noah feed all those animals, without them eating each other. Folage would be destroyed after a flood, so the animals should have starved to death.

All of the types of land animals that needed to get on to survive. There were two of each or seven of each that were considered to be "clean" animals, that is animals that were acceptable to be sacrificed to God.
