Murphy figured it out. It applies to all the answers above.

If anything can go wrong it will at the most inconvenient time.

Like if you drop something heavy it will fall on something breakable.

And all other corollaries.

If you put something together and it goes together easily, you will have to take it apart again because you forgot something.

Just going out on a limb here, but maybe because the wrong number you dialed, those people weren't calling someone or someone wasn't calling them, well except for you of course... LOL

If it is busy when you DO call a wrong number, you don`t recognize it! You just assume that you dialed right, and whoever you are calling is already on the phone! If someone answers, that`s when you realize it`s a wrong number.......

Because when the wrong number is busy, you don't find out that it was the wrong number, simply hang up and call again, normally dial again

And why are all my wrong numbers, regardless of whichever phone I answer, elderly ladies wanting to speak to Enid? They can't seem to grasp that I'm not preventing her from coming to the phone, they just misdialled!

its because there all dial our number!

we get about 7 calls average a day during the week, and even more on mondays. Damn our number being so similar to the surgery.

I bet if you dial enough wrong numbers, eventualy you will come across one that is busy.
