Do you believe this ? I am neither religious nor superstitious, but sometimes I think this saying is true, especially when someone has a tragedy in their lives. Thank you !

I don't know. I didn't have religion for over 40 years and it doesn't seem to me like I have suddenly become "happier" than I was when I was younger and more foolish and on the broad way to Hell. Of course back then I drank a lot and used drugs and engaged in fornication to make myself feel happy so probably I'm not a good test case for your question.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

No, I don't actually. I've met very depressive religious people (when you say "men", do you just mean men, or do you mean people?), and I've met very happy atheists. Actually, most people I know are atheists, and they seem to show the same range of emotions as theists, and to react to tragedy just as well. It really doesn't seem to make much difference at all.

Not only do I not believe it but it is simply not true. religious people made it up so they could feel better about themselves. tragedy happens to everyone, I would rather believe its just life rather than it is the will of god. I am happier w/o religion.

In some ways it is true, since the central tenet of religion is denying that death exists.

That is, pretending that people don't die, they just move.

Of course it would make people happier - but it doesn't mean it's true, or that it's responsible to live life thinking it is.

In other ways, it's not - those who deny the truth have to spend a lot of effort juggling between beliefs and reality.

Greetings,

Well, just look at the people who don't believe in God, often they don't respect themselves (drugs, drinking, partying, pre-marital sex) and they don't respect life and family (people are getting together just for sex and wasting money on dancing and movies (going out). Meanwhile the poor children being born out of these unions further have empty and painful lives without proper parental templates.

People of religious faith are often more stable and dependable with better (sounder) judgment, more likely to endure what needs to be endured for the greater good in life. The people who don't believe in God are more often conforming to the lies of "political correctness" (which is in itself a kind of religion that is money based because lawyers and judges work for anyone who has enough money to try to change the system without the democratic consent of the public).

In summary, people of religious faith tend to be more trustworthy and are more likely to adhere to truth instead of compromising on lies for the sake of political correctness.

I do believe that people are happier and more able to cope with life when they are grounded in faith. If it is just me against the world...I am going to be at a loss a whole lot of the time as to how to handle situations, people and complications that come in life. If God and I are a team and it is Him and I against the world...I am assured of success because He is the only thing that is stronger than the world

All the religious people I've ever met have been miserable sods. It stands to reason -- to religious people the world is nothing but a big waiting-room. They're waiting to die and meet their god, waiting for the day of doom, waiting for armageddon, waiting for the time they can watch the unbelievers drowning in a lake of fire. Meanwhile, they have to stand by and watch the rest of us having a good time.

Ye men with religion have somthing to cry with and request. And all their bearings are some type of test for them while non-religious feel hopeless in such situations.
