First before this question can be answered you would have to define fast food. If you only consider them like McDonald's, what about subway? What about restaurants that have meals that can be picked up? What about drinks? What about Starbucks coffee drive thru? You can not ask such broad questions and expect simple answers.

Although we hardly if ever, eat fast foods, some people either haven't got the time or, don't take the time to cook properly.
The American kids now days are over weight, there's a reason for this.
They recently banned fast food machines here in Michigan schools. I once went for a conference, I was appalled at what I saw. During the lunch break the kids lined up at these machines like a army mess hall, waiting to get at the sandwiches, the soda and candy bars, chips, etc.

They now have to get along without them and, that's good.
They do get wholesome food at school but, could use more variety.

Eating fast food is no worse then going to the supermarket and buying all that unhealthy crap they have there or eating out at a restraunant every day. Fast food just makes it easier. America is becoming obese because Americans are becoming lazy. Nobody rides a bike, nobody goes for a walk, and nobody does anything to burn the fat they are putting into themselves. Instead of banning fast food, why not ban personally owned vehicles and improve the public transportation system? Then if somebody wants to go get a big Mac, they have to walk or ride their bike thru the drive-thru. I do agree that fast food establishments need to redo their menus, but banning them is just plain stupid.

No. Banning fast food is not the answer. If we do that, should we also ban bakeries, Supermarkets, Restaurants etc... Some people like to treat themselves to fast food once in a while. The answer is self control. There is unhealthy food everywhere and Americans know how bad it is for them. A treat once in a while is fine, but contol yourself.

No, fast food should NOT be banned.

Do you folks that think it should be banned also think we should be banned from making French fries, fried chicken, burgers, cookies, cake, pie, sweet rolls and candy at home in our own kitchens?

And, how about banning grocery stores from selling ice cream, cookies, candy, soda, chips, and frozen dinners that contain more than the recommended daily amount of fat and/or calories?

How about limiting the movie theater snack bars to selling raw carrot and celery sticks?

I don't eat fast food very often, because I love to cook and want to feed my family healthy food, but I do NOT want politicians deciding what we can and can't eat!

Banning isn't the answer. From the bible to the government the desire for individual freedom is prevalent, frankly, we [the consumers} have to have some responsibility, and quit this trap of looking for a scapegoat for the bad decisions we make.

Fast food was never intended to serve as replacements for a healthy lifestyle, a burger every now and again, won't hurt most people, every day probably will.

When it gets to the point you have to increase your jeans size, then maybe some reavaluating lifestyle choices should take place.

People who have sued because they we're lured into eating at KFC's or Taco Bell are burdens to society.

No! Fast Foods should not be banned. America is a free country where you are allowed to make your own decisions as long as they do not impose on someone else. If someone wants to be lazy and fat that is their choice.

If we give the government the ability to say what we can and can not eat.... where will it stop.

Well I think it should be banned, first of all is it easier to go home and cook healthy food and pay over 20 dollars or go to a drive thru and get a meal for 6, 7 dollars, that’s the question that IS ALWAYS ASKED .SECOND OF ALL IT SHOULD BE BANNED BECAUSE WE GOT A LOT OF OBESE PEOPLE OUT THERE AND ITS KINDA SAD.
