I have heard you don't. But I think this will be a decision made by God! I pray your friend made it to heaven.

A friend's son committed suicide. I can't imagine the despair he felt at the time and the grief he caused to his family. I thought Babel was quite a story. Everything that occurred in the movie was because the mother committed suicide. Her husband gave the older man his gun, his son shoots the woman, her child acts out, so many people hurt and the woman probably never considered just how much her actions would affect so many. Do you really think a person in that depth of despair and needing help so badly would be denied heaven?

The most honest answer is that nobody truly knows for certain. Different people believe different things and for different reasons. In most fundamentalist Christian religions, suicide does lead to Hell, but even within these religions, there is often some sort of allowance made for those who are mentally impaired in some way - and many in these religions view a suicidal mindset as a mental impairment.
For my own self, I believe that a compassionate god would know the heart of the suicidal individual, and would understand the reasons for the suicide, and would not condemn the individual to any sort of Hell - particularly because to reach the point of being suicidal, that individual has probably already been through some sort of hell or another.

I've read that it's the intent of the suicidal person. If they meant to harm and cause pain and sadness, then it would be a sin. But if the person felt they truly couldn't continue in this life, it's their free will and is not a sin. Thou shall not kill does not apply to them unless they're a Jew.
Seeing as Christians invented hell, we can rule out that s/he didn't go there. Seeing as Jews invented heaven, we can rule out that s/he didn't go there either. The safest we can say is that s/he is no longer suffering.
Personally, I think Christians should be ashamed of themselves for claiming they'll go to hell, especially so unemotionally. I think everyone suffers enough from a suicide for other strangers to be giving their radial, dogmatic views of hellfire and eternal suffering. At least if they do it, they should be able to admit that that's nothing a LOVING god would do and that if anything along the lines of torturing and burning one's child is done in the REAL world, the parent would be living the rest of their hellish life behind bars.

well in any case, heaven may not exist, same for hell ... but since you.re asking a question that can.t be proven there are only theories and ideas and legends and you know, just stuff people write about ... other beliefs if you will ... but i do know one story, have you heard of "dante.s inferno" .?
according to dante.s inferno, there are 9 layers of hell, the ninth being the coldest, the farthest from ... 'god' ... so therefor, its frozen solid with guild and treachery, that.s where 'satan' lives ... anyway ... the 7th level is where those who hurt themselves and others go ... check out the source ... its actually interesting ...
also, if you.re interested, the movie "what dreams may come" illustrates dante.s inferno i a very interesting way ...
and btw, i.m sorry for your last .

Hard to say.
Without faith it is impossible to please God.
So, is suicide a faith action??
Does it please God?
Is it of courage?
Judas was Jesus' brother and was a disciple even. He committed suicide after betraying Jesus. Cuz of shame and guilt.
Is suicide a winning approach?
If Jesus endured all that we do, and torture and crucifiction, and we think we can't handle just a few little pressures, and kill ourself, hmmmm??
I guess all ya can do is hope and pray.
But suicide is a coward's way out. Often led by self pitty.
Often doubting God.
It IS a sin though.
And one in which you don't have time to repent of.
If they knew Jesus, well, maybe they'll just be judged for their sin but still inherit the kingdom.
Who knows for sure?
A couple weeks ago, one of my few heroes in life, the man who showed me unconditional love back when I was a druggie and etc, and who later baptised me, he committed suicide.
And I just can't see him not being in Heaven.
But I don't know.
I've had my days after divorce I wanted to just die. Just drive off the highway or etc.
But God always provided a way out.
I guess it depends if the way God provides out is good enough or not. Huh?
What if Jesus woulda been a coward?
Like Judas was.

there is no confusing and speedy rule on the subject of how forward for suicide sufferers. some lived honorable lives who served their fellowmen and wore out their lives interior the provider of others. in the event that they accompanied the commandments in accordance to their wisdom and did all they could on their very own, the the mercies of the Lord will make up the adaptation. If on the different hand they lived an ungodly lifestyles, crammed with sin, and corruption, knowingly and willingly rebelling against gentle and actuality, then they are going to finally end up with devil. The state of one's concepts on the time of their suicide could make very much of distinction. some who take their very own lives at the instant are not mentally conscious or culpible on the time of their dying.

Sure. A person is so despondent, depressed and suffering from severe mental illness that they commit suicide AND then a loving, forgiving, understanding god rewards them by ordering them to suffer eternally. Makes sense, does it not?
...and some folks wonder why there are atheists in the world?

I woule be lying to tell you they are in Heaven. God is the only one who can make that deccision. They have chose to murder themselfs, and wehn you die it is too late to ask for forgivness. I want to share something with you. Jesus told a lady a few years ago who commited suicide and was brought back from a drug over dose. Her heart stoped beating and was pronouced clinically dead. She ended up in Hell, and Jesus told her those that commit suiced go nowhere. She was fortunate to have another chance. Not everyone can. So for those that commit suicide and murder yourself you surely end up in hell christian or not. Satan wanted them to take their life becasue they will end up in sheer horrors or torment. God gives them a choice. I have thought about that many times and was very close, Jesus pulled me out of that and gave me strength to endure and now I am getting closer to Jesus. I love in my heart for Jesus so much and Jesus did not die so I can die, Jesus died so I can live. Sorry about your friends. So yes my friend your friend is in hell. This is not different from murdering someone and murdering yourself, it is the same punishment. It is Murder. God determines when he will take us home, not us. God bless you brother, and sorry to hear about your friends suicide.

well do you accept the Dead sea scrolls? where in the gospel of Jesus ( i think) he mentions Hell is not permanent for any sinner. Where God saves all From the pits of hell, but if you don't believe in that....hes prolly in Hell, but Hell is more interesting then Heaven anyway. you got something to do and people to see. Heaven is just a white cloud where you spend eternity praising God

By asking Christ to come into their life they only gave their soul to Christs religion... ultimately dooming themselves in suicide. Thats from a multi-theistic point of view.
I do believe that suicide "because one thinks life isnt worth living" is worthy of damnation. On the other hand, "accidental suicide" and "self-sacrifice for others sake" are not condemnable.
