I got the joke, but I will answer your question anyway. Hemorrhoids is a greek word, from Hema (blood), and rhoi (flow). Asteroid is also a greek word, from asteri (star) and idos (species, type). So you see these are 2 completely different concepts. the reason Greek is used for all scientific concepts is that the meaning of the words is inherent to their structure. This is also the reason I believ knowing some Greek -and latin - helps people understand their own language better.
