I'm not a returned missionary but I've had two brothers come back from missions. I was to young to know about the first, but my second oldest brother before he left use to be really really pilly. He wasn't BAD but he was really really pilly and my parents actually worried about him. After he came home from his mission in Russia even I recognized a chance in him. He was more....I don't want to say emotional, but more spiritual I guess. He's kind of pilly but hey which brother isn't! He's...23 now I think, and he served in the Russia Rostov Dadanu mission, came back last year. Also, my sister is currently on a mission and the way she writes back makes me want to go on a mission too. It's obvious her testimony is strengthening a lot, and also her ability to get along with people. She's 21 and is in the Russia St. Petersburg Mission. Yeah, we're expecting my NEXT brother to get a call to Russia too. He just sent in his papers. Hope that helped!

Sometimes I find humor in MrPeepers answers. The court of Love was funny....

Anyway I served in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission (aka OTM, Only True Mission) from Dec. 01 - Dec '03. Life has changed a lot since I've been home. My mission has given me experiences that I can use as a foundation. I'll always be grateful that I went ( I was a late bloomer, I went almost 2 years after I was 19) I've been back once and enjoyed it and hope to make more trips in the future.

You could hold up a sign saying "Welcome Home, Elder _____" But have the wrong name on it.... Just kidding A returning missionary doesn't really care HOW he or she is greeted. Just that you are all there TO greet them. Give them time to adjust; be patient with them still wanting to go through mission routines. They will feel strange being alone (two years with a companion is hard to adjust). Let them set the pace. Avoid going out to the movies right away...give time to settle in over some weeks. Just be supportive.

Return CHRISTIAN/Calvinst missionary from romania. I saw a teen interpretor who decided to jump from the balcony to the window fall two stories, hit the ground, go to the hosbital in an ambulence, we prayed for him and he came back with a scratch and headache, the Romanian doctors were amazed he should have been dead or had brain damage.
I also saw a man follow our team around with a knife in a gypsie village (he wanted a digital camera one of our teens had) . He never attacked, he showed up the nexted day with his daughter at our VBS (vacation Bible school) with his daughter, his deamner changed, like he never was following us with a knife the day before.
I saw many kids give their life to Christ, I got the sorrow for the lost, and carry it with me wherever I go, everytime the chruch talks about missions I start to cry and pray for lost souls. When we worship, I turn the song into a pray for the lost and I brake down and cry once again.

I was LDS at one point in time.
It was my personal mission to prove that the church was true.
I'm now ex-mormon. I found a lot more information than I had thought I was going to, and it completely convinced me of the falseness of "the church".
Since then, I've gained confidence in myself and done more with my life than I ever thought possible.

I am a returned missionary. I have been back many years. My life changed for the positive as I grew in many ways. I gained an appreciation of the love of God, I gained increased faith and commitment, I gained and appreciation for the many blessings that I enjoy, and I gained an increased love for my family back home as I returned to them. I served in Korea..
