Is it a waste of time to go through these singles sites to find a date? For example, E-harmony, cupid.com.

Aaron ... I can't tell you how many people I know that have found the love of their life online. Regardless of what some of these people say, it really is the new way to "date". Of course their are risks ... people lie, people are fake, etc ... but there are just as many good people who for reasons such as location, family obligations, and/or work do not have time to go visit meat market bars where most of the time that's all you'll get ... meat for a night ... and most of the time it's spoiled! lol (If that's what you're looking for ... just go to a bar by all means!) So if you're serious about finding a relationship with someone you really like this may work for you. But I think the site really does matter.

I am sure Plenty of Fish works for some ... but in regards to the pay site eHarmony and True.com (I believe it is free) ~ they are safer. Both of these sites have a test you take to be SURE you are at least fairly compatible with a person. And True.com is the only dating site endorsed by Psychology Today. They actually do background checks and fight to make sure their customers are NOT married and/or do not have a criminal record. They will prosecute anyone who is caught on their site that fits either of these 2 categories! This is not only a notch above the free sites ... but it attracts more women because they feel safer.

I have four friends that are now married to great people they met online (both women and men). They found exactly what they were looking for because they were willing to take a chance and look beyond the local "tired" scene. Myspace is okay ... but there is no safety built in at all... and people lie and can create tons of different "fake" pages. Of all things, I would stay away from chat - which was mentioned above. Talk about weirdos ... that's where 90% of them are!

No matter what ... play it safe and always meet someone new at a crowded and safe location ... then you can decide for sure.

Good luck to you! =)

Dating someone online is a waste of time. Meeting someone online and going out on a real date is fun. Much more fun than virtual dating.

Don't use the paysites. Go to myspace, do a search term, and send about 10-20 emails a day. It's an easy way to get laid if you're tired of going to the bars all of the time and most are pretty good looking, not fat sloppy pigs.

I wouldn't risk it... I've always been suspicious about
E-harmony, if you pay atention to their tv adds you'll notice that each couple are really brother and sister... take a close look!

try plentyoffish.com. it's 100% free, because you should never have to pay for that crap. e-harmony is a joke for any normal person in this world....i've dated a few guys from POF, and they were the sanest relationships of my life. ;-) good luck!

Probably not. What makes online better than in person?
