I don't know!
After I had my wisdom teeth removed I couldn't really open my mouth so I stopped biting my nails... but then started again when I recovered!

3. Always wear Chap Stick or Lip Gloss.

what you can do is buy some fake nails and put them on when you try to bite them you will get a bitter taste gradually your nail biting habit will subside and when you are sure you wont bite your nails you can take off those fake nails this will really help you

I used to bit my nails. I solved this problem by always carring around with me a nail file. The moment my nails get a hook or are dirty, I fixed it there and then. Now, most of the time my nails look good.

Go to GNC in the mall or a local drug store pick up capsaicin oil ( it's just hot pepper oil) Brush your nails with some a few times during the day you will go to bite them it will be hot and taste a little icky (just hot peper oil not dangerous). After a little while you will have gotten rid of the unconscious urge to bite them.

Here are some simple solutions:
Find a nasty tasting lotion and use it often.
Paint your nails
Get fake nails for a while
Keep your hands busy doing other things
Remove fingers from mouth whenever you catch yourself doing it (however hard that may be). Mind over matter, you can stop yourself from biting your nails.
Good Luck!

the fact is that i woke up one day, looked at them and decided not to bite them... this continued for a few days, so i was getting confident that i had stopped. then, one day, without knowing how, i bit tem again, so i came up with sth! well, what i did is starting to paint them...and seeing them all flashy and coourful made me reduce eating them... now, i still bite them but only when i'm really stressed! thn it stops, i paint them orange or vermillion (2 colours in fashion!) and brag! good luck!
