Im looking for thought-provacative quotes. Not to be rude, but please dont send cliches or stuff like "Failure is a road to sucess" and other boring stuff we've all heard a gazillion times.

They don't have to be serious, I would appreciate funny ones too

I've got heaps...

Thomas Edison - I haven't failed, I've found 10, 000 ways in which it won't work.

Benjamin Franklin - Wise men don't need advice - fools won't take it

Charles Dickens - I am quite serious when I say that I do not believe there are, on the whole earth besides, so many intensified bores as in these United States. No man can form an adequate idea of the real meaning of the word, without coming here. AND I do not know the American gentleman, God forgive me for putting two such words together.

Robin Williams - See, the problem is God gave men a brain and a Penis and only enough blood to work one at a time.

Emo Philips - when I was a kid I used to pray to God for a new bike then I realised he didn't work that way so I stole one and asked him to forgive me!

I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but there is a quote in the film that always makes me think about life and...its just really good. Its a quote from Alexander Pope's poem "Eloisa to Abelard"

"How happy is the blameless vessle's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd."

We child proofed the house, but they're still getting in.

You can't expect people to look eye to eye with you if you are looking down on them.

"What you do, not who you are matters" (for the longer version - "What you do, not who you are matters, till what you what you do make you who you are".

What this says is who you are, (son of a president, heir apparent to a thrown, cousin of Bill gates, peasant from Cambodia, etc) should not matter. What matters is what you have been able to achieve - what you do. There are times when what you do makes you who are - Then you are living your calling and close to nirvana.
