Eggs with a visible blood spot on the yolk are safe for consumption. The spot can be removed with the tip of a knife. Blood or "meat" spots are occasionally found on an egg yolk. These tiny spots are not harmful and are caused by the rupture of a blood vessel during formation of the egg. Blood spots do not indicate a fertilized egg. Mass candling methods reveal most blood spots and those eggs are removed, but even with electronic spotters, it is impossible to catch all of them. If desired, the spot can be removed with the tip of a clean knife prior to cooking. These eggs are safe to eat.
Given that in any typical egg laying coop, open range or not, there are no roosters, it is not possible that it was a fertilized egg.

Store bought eggs are never fertilized. Chickens produce eggs is all and every now and then one like that gets through, so does double yolks. Now farm eggs that may happen. But unfortunately for the other chickens a rooster couldn't get near them because they are literally egg laying machines they don't even stretch their wings. That blood spot means the sac started to attach to the wall or something, but it wasn't growing anything but breakfast.

,this sort of mistake should not happen ,the description does not sound like a 'blood spot 'that can be seen very rarely in the white or yolk of the egg ,which is due to a genetic abnormality in the hen, clearly visible blood vessels mean the early stages of embryonic development in a fertile egg..The onus lies with the store to look into the matter.

Yes it is a still born egg and the chick didn't make it. That is a farm fresh egg and the rooster got to it. In factory hen houses they keep the hen from the rooster.

You might wanna check the box that it came in, because if they are farm gwon or naturally grown eggs then sometimes they are fertilized by accident... or it could be a bacteria in there...

idk what the question is here, but it happens, sometimes chicks start to fertilize quicker than others and what u get is chicken abortion via your fried egg.
