I see religion as a kind of superstition and authoritarianism people need when they can't accept their mortality and find their own values. I just wonder what people at YA think about the possibility of a future where people can live without these irrational supports.

Vitriolic remarks like those from "Sweet" Suzy make me glad we are making progress. I'm happy to read evidence of a world moving away from ideas of a hateful god to realization that we don't need to invent a god.

That is my greatest hope for humanity.
That might bring some peace to the world.

I don't think so. While there are more people who see religion for what it is - superstition - the more are some becoming superstitious. While the scales seem to be level between the non-believers and believers, the truth is that religion has done irreparable damage. We will never fully recover form its influence on some lives.

I think we are in the process of finding out the answer to this question.

Much sooner than we realize!

If we are all graced with but a few short years we might just be in for something most incredible. We are most fortunate to be living in this time period.

A question that I might ask is:
Just how many humans are (prepared) for the changes that are coming and are inevitable, and are unfolding as we speak?

As much peace as would become from a secular world, it isnt going to happen. There are too many people, countries, and ideas that, not only sprout, but feed off religion. For many religion is life and their whole world revolves around it. For others its a symbol on their neck or a candle lit on a certain day. Eitherway religion has become such a necessity in our time, that is would be pretty unbelievable if it kind of vanished. It reminds me of Marx's communism ideas. Where it sounded crazy, tried to be carried out, but it never went in that exact direction.
But, its a great thought nonetheless

Hopefully. Though, it will not be a world of athiests. Lack of religion is not lack of god. How freeing that people will believe what they want, and not attacked for thinking differently than another. The only way to peace is to eliminate the two major roadbloacks, religion and multilanguage. People adopted religion in the Dark Ages to give them answers and a sense of purpose, than forced them onto their kids, and so forth. We don't even need religion anymore. Think what you want, and accept you could be wrong, and another right.

Alchemy evolved and became Chemistry. Astrology matured and gave rise to Astronomy. I have faith that one day religion will grow up and become pure philosophy.

Unfortunately this will not be soon (some people still believe in astrology).

WE ARE ON YOUR PATH AND MOVING... Atheism has gone from a trickle in 1860 to hundreds of millions now...

With the ToE, Big Bang Cosmology and much more, the upshot is that we’ve gone from relatively few to huge numbers in less than 150 years. We find (roughly) the percentages of Atheism for certain countries: Vietnam – 81%, Sweden - ~65%, Denmark – ~65%, Norway – ~64%, Japan – ~65%, the Czech Republic – ~58%, Finland – ~51%, and so on. China has ~150,000,000 atheists, while Russia has ~44,000,000, Germany has ~36,000,000, France has ~28,000,000, the U.K. has ~22,000,000 and even little Canada has ~8,000,000 atheists (lots more of course). There are up to 26,000,000 atheists in the States. Given these numbers and associated growth, it becomes apparent that atheism is just thriving. Hopefully, the current trend will even *accelerate*!

After you die you will live with God or in Hell for all eternity, believe it. When you stand before God on Judgment Day and you try to cop the plea "Oh I really just didn't believe you were real." He will say to you, "You have no excuse for the proof of Me is everywhere". I wouldn't want to be you on that day. After God puts you in Hell and seals the door shut, that's where you will stay forever. Bummer too is that you will be able to see all the people in Heaven and how well they are being treated, but you won't be able to get to where they are. You will be tormented for ever watching them in their mansions being pampered by God while you rot in your reward, Hell.

Your time is short, you should rethink your decision to scoff at God. Mere puny man can kill only your body, God can put your soul in Hell. Read the Holy Bible and find out the only way you can be saved from this just reward for your sins. HURRY! You are not promised another minute.

Not all 95% will end, but there will aways be that 5% fringe group who go around scratching little fishes on walls to let us know they still exist.

perhaps the reason you think that religion is irrational, is because you are so closed minded that you are not open to the beliefs or experiences of others.
you might try to open you mind to the possibility that someone has an experience beyond you knowledge.
