I had a silver cap over my second molar and it stayed on for a good 6-8 years(maybe longer ) and it one say it fell off, but when it did the tooth under was half rotten down into the center and is starting to expose my roots. Everytime i get any food at all, water warm or cold it sends a huge shock through my entire face. Its extremely painfun, i went to the dentist before but they just cleaned my other teeth and scheduled a root canal for 3 of my teeth but i never went back, just wandering should i try and pull my molar by my self? its so painful its hard to sleep.

DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT YOURSELF.

There is nothing you can do at home to numb a tooth enough to pull it yourself. The nerves that gives the tooth pain sensation is deep in the bone, and there is nothing over-the-counter you can apply to your gums that can get into the bone to sufficiently numb a rotten tooth enough to be pulled. If you try, you will be in excruciating pain and may cause serious injury to yourself.

A dentist knows how to numb the tooth and has the right instruments to take out the tooth. The longer you wait, the longer you suffer.

If you had saved your wisdom teeth and had your 2nd molars removed eventually the wisdom teeth would shift twords the 1st molars but not in a good way they would tilt until they eventually hit another tooth. But if you saved the wisdom teeth and had the 2nd molars removed would need to place a partial there in the space to prevent the teeth from shifting so yes the wisdom teeth could have been saved.

If your secodn moalr is decyayed, then get your wisdom tooth behind it removed, as it may be the aggravating issue. There is no sucjh thing as letting your wisdom totoh come up in the space created by removing the second molar. To find out more go to

do not try to pull it out
if the tooth is that rotten it can break and will cause you more pain
if you cover the tooth so no air will get at it you will stop the pain.

The best thing is ezo denture cushions
they are made from wax and they also have gauze on them they are thin and they mold to the shape you need them

just cut the size you need.

if you can not get them you can use a make up pad or gauze or cotton

Try to make it thin

if it is a hole you can fill it with wax a candle (not scented) and if you have none of the above and you can not go out
you can even cut a piece out of a clean face cloth

any thing you have around the house that will keep the air off of it.

just make sure it is thin or your mouth might get sore from trying to hold it in place

hope this helps

Your tooth had a temporary stainless steel crown on it. Someone should have told you this was just a temporary measure. In any case, do not attempt to remove your tooth yourself. It will hurt like heck, and you won't get it out, you will at best break it and possibly make it harder for the dentist to remove it. GO and see a dentist about it!

NO. Don't try to do it yourself!! Go to the doctor immediately. Infections in the mouth can spread to your blood stream and become deadly if not treated properly.

You probably need to get a root canal.
