Lori K - here ya go:
"Give to everyone that asketh thee; and from him that taketh away thy goods ask not again." Luke 6:30

"Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." Matt. 5:42

Luke 6:35 sums it all up...

"But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be Sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil."

No. He doesn't say that either.

Goods, not money. This refers to charity. It says NOTHING about giving ALL to someone. The reference is to the needy not the greedy.

God Bless you for your question...

The answer is yes, no, and maybe.

First of all, where did Jesus say that I should give you all my money just because you asked for it?

Secondly, if you are in need, and I don't help you out, then I would not be obeying Christ.

Thirdly, as Christians, we are called to be wise stewards of what God has given us...because it's not truly my money, it's God's. So I guess it would also depend on what you needed the money for--if it is to buy food for your starving baby, I'll take you to the market, and I'll help you buy the food you need. If it's to buy drugs, I cannot give you the money. That would be the same as injecting them into your arm, and causing harm to come to you.

Sure - do you mihd a big handful of change, and do you have the patience to wait while I dig it all out of that small pocket I keep it in on my bag?

Many times I've given my last dollars in pocket to someone who needs it more than me. After all, I have a home and food in the cupboards.

Has nothing to do with religion for me, btw - it has to do with being a decent human being. (and I'm sure I'll get plenty of thumbs down for being a decent human being - I always do when I say that particular phrase.)

A true humble person wouldn't ask for money, I believe Jesus wants you to help the poor, but not give money to every bum thats asks for it.

I gave someone a dollar today as they needed it, they were short, as he needed it at that time, or he couldn't take the test that he was given, and perhaps it was a test for me as well.

Jesus did not say for people to panhandle off of other people.

dosent say give anyone who askes all your money.

He did say help the poor and that they would allways be with us. but not that we needed to give all that we had to them.
when he said that to the rich man he knew that all of his stuff ment more to him then his soul, thats why he challanged him to see what ment more.
