I am a Catholic & yes my prayers are directly to Jesus.
This a very common question really and a Good question.
You have a lot a good answers already..
I have never spoken to a Catholic who prayed through Mary to Jesus? (That would be against Church & Bible doctrine)
We only ask Mary/ The saints to say a prayer for us. Like how we ask our friends to say a pray for us or some one who is sick.
There is a lot of misunderstandings out there about what Catholics believe & yes it is hard to tell the lies from the truth. Redneckgirl is right Catholicism for dummies is a very good break down of what we believe. If you truly want to know & understand what we believe I would recommend this book, but if you are not the shy type asking a priest would be even better. (they can be very helpful answering questions, they go though many years of school before they become priests)
I hope this helps to answer your question. May the peace of God be with you. Feel free to e-mail me if you like

Yes, I pray directly to God and Jesus every single day. I also ask for forgiveness and guidance. Saying you do not want to hear about Mary and the saints is like saying all who love God and Jesus are unimportant. The reason we Catholics think so highly of Mary is that she was the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the saints were people who suffered and died in devotion to Jesus. If you can go and ask friends to pray for you, then I do not understand why asking those devoted to God so deeply is looked down upon. Also, the Catholic Church does teach us to pray to God and Jesus.
Peace be with you.

Yes we pray constantly to God and Jesus. We only worship the Lord. Someone has misinformed you about what Catholics do. One must remember the Catholic Church is the church JESUS established and placed into Peter's hands. Why dont you attend a Mass and find out for youself. Today there will be 3 Mass's

Yes we pray to Jesus, that is really what our church teaches us to do. The first prayer we learn as children is the one Jesus teaches in the Holy Bible Our Father who art in Heaven, Matt 5:9-15 (we also learn as children that all prayer should come from the heart ) We do not pray through Mary to Jesus (doing that really would not make any since to me)
I truly hope this helps to answer your question, feel free to e-mail me if you like.
God bless, your Sister in Christ RedneckGirl

Yes, I have. I talk to God and Jesus all the time. In fact, I grew up raised by a Lutherin mother (never went to church), so all I knew growing up was praying to Jesus. I'm becoming Catholic by choice in my adulthood and find praying the rosary gives me strength, amongst other things, but I still talk to Jesus and God, Jesus especially is my knot at the end of my rope when I feel lost.

You need to go to a Catholic service through the Easter week, each day is a service to Jesus; his life, Service, sacrifice, Resurrection, and his love. There is a lot of misinformation out there and unfortunately too many people are afraid of what they don't know instead of learning about it. The Catholic belief is just one of many routes to God and heaven, and can hold some exciting and blessed moments. Catholics are Christians. Please open your hearts and lets worship together and not fight against God by fighting amongst ourselves.

Yes, dear, we do. We pray directly to Jesus all the time. The original meaning of the word pray means to ask or petition. It only later took on the meaning of worship.
We also have those wonderful friends in Heaven we call saints and we have the privilege of asking them to pray for us.

YES I Pray to Jesus He is my Lord, my Savior & Best Friend .
We (Catholics) do not pray through Mary (that would be creepy)
We only ask Mary to pray for us (Just as I would ask you to pray for me, or how you would ask me to pray for you)
Jesus sad No man comes unto the Father expect through me (Note: Jesus did not say through Mary BUT THROUGH HIMSELF)
I also recommend Catholicism for dummies (I know the name sounds offensive but really it is a good book to learn about what we believe)

Every day, yes. Actual spontaneous, from-the-heart prayers.
I also pray a rosary every day. And often other prayers of the Church.
I am a very typical Catholic. We do this sort of thing all the time. Not sure what you've been told, but this is the truth.
