These weapons are meant for controlling evil doers & protecting good souls.
I wish to add the following:
The Bhagwad Gita says..
" yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharaata
abyuthanam adharmasya tada atmanam srjamyaham
paritrnaya sadhunam vinashaya cha dushkrutaam
dharma samsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge"
To protect the People who uphold Dharmam, He comes
to the world to protect them.
Bhagawan takes an avathar is for 'dhusta nigraham' (defeat/destroy the evil) and 'sishta paripalayam' (to protect noble). Weapons are required for "paritrnaya sadhunam vinashaya cha dushkrutaam". Weapons are only symbolic and so it does not mean God can do these with weapon only.

The idols of Hindu Gods which one sees in the Temples of India are prepared under the Agama Sastras of ancient days.

Firstly there are no GODS in Hinduism.
It is a misnomer to suggest that Hindus worship several Gods.

The different forms(Rupas) which one prays in Hinduism are expressions of the different psychological needs of an average man such as the Mother, Father Child etc.

In other words the different Gods with different weapons in their hands are only the symbolic representations of the Omni potent, Omniscient and the Omni presence of the great Brahman, who is unseen and indescribable by an average worshipper.

Therefore the weapons are only the suggestive expressions of the Protective as well as the Power of the great Divine Energy.

At the same time the highly developed sages and saints have always meditated on the formless Brahman only.

Therefore God is only Love and Compassion as per Hinduism, even though He is shown with powerful weapons in the form of idols.

Do you think that the holding of a weapon reduce the kindness of God in any of His form? If yes, then you are wrong. A king, wherever he goes, holds a sword either in his hand or at the left part of his waist. Why does he do so? This is to protect his subjects at any moment. God is the King of kings. His holding weapons is auspicious for the world. In fact, if you meditate on the weapons of God, you will become very powerful, physically, mentally and/or spiritually according to your level. God's holding weapon is a symbol of His powers.

According to Hindu philosophy, consortium of God is a type of administration mechanism. All Gods are given some specific duty or task to do - to help life (on earth and everywhere). Administration expects some specific discipline from all living. It can tolerate some deviation, but not total indiscipline. So Gods are empowered to punish the offenders, and symbol of power is vehicle, weapon, and energy (money or other form).

Bhowmik moshoy
The Hindu Gods give love with eyes open. Even if God exists in every live creature, we do NOT worship snakes & scorpions .
These weapons are meant for controlling evil doers & protecting good souls.

because they are protecting their devotees from the evil forces.

God loves all, but He punishes the body of a sinner. After that person's sin is destroyed by death, the soul gets liberation. This is a blessing.

you can also think symbolicly. The weapons of God are to kill the sin in your heart, and protect your devotion.

For protection of the devotees.
They are also symbolic, depending of the deity.
